Do you think that PJ read this forum ?

It's pretty obvious with his relationship with TORN over the years that he is here now and again, though probably very sporadically due to The Hobbit's production schedule.

PJ and Boyens and some crew probably lurk from time to time...

I would say more of a reading thing than a posting thing, but you never know.

You've blown my cover. This is Peter here.

Too late, we already know he does. He said so himself.

But he might avoid the barrow downs...foggy, merciless, cold place it is, preciousss...

too much negativity. if all of it were constructive then maybe it would be good and he'd take to it rather than just be disheartened about the response to a movie he made for fans to enjoy.

i'd say most of the criticisms are indeed constructive, but there's a good share of it that doesn't even make an attempt to see the reasoning behind the filmmaking decisions, that spends way too much time ranting against a simple tool like CG, that complains about anything that's different from the book, that pines for Guillermo Del Toro to have made the movie instead, and that acts like every little thing was done better in the LotR movies.

this in response to a first chapter where we get to see appendices material re-imagined and then worked into the narrative, half an hour of unexpected partying, not one of the dwarves left out, and mentions of the blue wizards, Gondolin, Ungoliant, etc...on top of Tolkien's characters wonderfully rendered and his themes kept intact and beautifully highlighted--not just from the stuff in the book but through added scenes like Galadriel/Gandalf, Bilbo/Bofur, Bilbo's speech about helping the dwarves reclaim their home, and so on.

but i get, it's an Internet messageboard, it's a lot easier to get hung up on the 10-20 minutes of "bad" or imperfect stuff (though for me it's more like 5 minutes) than it is to celebrate the 2+ hours of really, really good stuff.
