Charlotte Brändström has signed on to direct two episodes of Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings” TV series, joining an impressive international creative team that includes Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”) and British Chinese director Wayne Che Yip.

“I’m very excited to be guided through Middle-earth by J.D.’s and Patrick’s vision and immerse myself in the iconic world of J.R.R. Tolkien. It’s a great privilege to be in New Zealand to work with Amazon Studios’ outstanding ensemble of creative talents,” Brändström said in a statement. “There are countless things still to see in Middle-earth, and great works to do,” she added, quoting the dwarven character Gimli.

With an eight-episode long season, with Bayona directing the two-part pilot, Yip directing four and now Brandstrom directing two, we have the the directors for the entirety of the season. With a whole of three directors, of which at least two are also executive producers on the show, it takes up the shape of a movie trilogy, where each entry is directed by a different person.

Charlotte had uploaded a picture, appearantly from location in NZ, shooting with an Arri camera (Arri LF?).
 
The two episodes she directed for The Witcher were two of the better ones. Rare Species had a good story but the special effects sucked. Bottled Appetites was pretty good overall. I think this is a good get for LoTR on Prime.
 
My Niece has an acting role in the latest Outlander Series ... it would fabulous if she could get part in this series too :)
