Welcome to another ‘almost-made-it-to-the-weekend’ celebration!
Give us all your news from the week, and/or tell us what your fun plans for the weekend are. Oh, and don’t forget to order your favorite virtual libation from the friendly Fiesta Bar!

I got it in my head to spin an old Patsy Cline song to kick things off today. Then, it hit me that it fits what Treebeard might have been humming and hoooomming to himself while looking for his long lost Entwife, Fimbrethil. So, I altered a word or two. Enjoy!

*kicks juke box – Walking After Midnight by Patsy Cline fills the room in tribute to Treebeard and the Entwives*

I go out walking, after midnight
Out in the moonlight
Just like we used to do
I'm always walking, after midnight
Searching for you

I walk for miles, along the causway
Well that's just my way
Of saying I love you
I'm always walking after midnight
Searching for you

I stop to see Old Man Willow
Crying on his pillow
Maybe he's crying for me
And as the skies turn gloomy
Night winds whisper to me
I'm lonesome as I can be

I go out walking, after midnight
Out in the moonlight
Just hoping Fim may be
Somewhere a walking after midnight
Searching for me

Thanks, Altaira. Actually I like that song, so it's okay.

Had some dandy weather here this week, too bad I've been at work for most of it. I did take yesterday off to stay with my grandson as we have had some daycare problems. Today it's grandpa's turn. It would be nice if the sunshine hangs around for this long weekend. We have another wedding to go to on Monday. I'm starting to count down the days to vacation as well.

Think I'll have lemonade, please Altaira -- not too sweet, and add a splash of something stronger, please.

I hope you have a great weekend to! [laugh]

*mixes miruvor and 7-up and slides it down the bar*

Nice catch! [;)]

I'll be packing this weekend, in between a Mountain-Con planning meeting a Firefly viewing party, and dinner with my family on Sunday for my brother's birthday. Full weekend, but should be fun.

Inferno.

*SPLASH!*

There, that ought to do the trick. [;)]

Sounds like things are going nicely for you and that you have a pleasant weekend planned, Elberbeth. That's what I like to hear!

have fun! [:)]

Sadly, we don't have fireflies here in Colorado. [:(] They're magical.

Busy, busy as usual I see, Inferno. Are you moving? Did I miss that?

*mixes coke and roses lime, throws a few fresh lime in*

Have a great weekend! [:)]

I'm dogsitting again this weekend, so I'm leaving work at noon to go pack up my stuff and clean the house a little bit. My other sister, bro-in-law, and nieces are staying with my parents across town this week, and they're staying at our house tomorrow night to be closer to the airport.

Other than that, I just plan to lounge and read this weekend. And take the dog for walks.

I wonder how many miles Treebeard would cover in a midnight stroll?

A nice, tall raspberry iced tea, please! To-go: the kids want to get out of this heat and into an air-conditioned movie theater, so we leave soon.

Been cleaning up all our camping stuff - had a wonderful time on Mt. Desert Island and in Acadia National Park! (Even when my daughter and I got stuck for a while on a smaller mountain, looking for our trail...but we did pick enough blueberries for pancakes.) But went for a ride on a four-masted schooner, did some sea kayaking, and watched the sun rise through the mists from atop Cadillac Mountain. And my daughter enjoyed a coneful of lobster ice cream (yes, it had real lobster pieces in it!).

Off to a family reunion tomorrow, for the day - and I'll be returning home with my dad's copy of Harry Potter 7! So next week I'll be able to read all the comments here.

How's the packing going? Is your new house far from your current one?

Plus it's fun to see them get SO excited when you get the leash out. [laugh]

Happy, relaxing weekend, Rosie!![:)]

We don't get fireflies in Utah either, so we're watching the (brief and lamented) TV series-- or part of it.

And yes, my lease was up on my apartment and the rent was going up, so I found something bigger (and closer to work) for the same price.

Inferno.

Two weeks ago today, I had surgery (so I wasn't drinking Diet Coke that day!). Luckily, it was successful and complications have been annoying but mostly minor. My doctor says everything is OK, so I can still fly to Texas next week, as Jim and I had planned (hey, Lily - will you be at Armadillocon??).

So since I can't drink beer IRL until next week, I'll have a virtual beer here.

[laugh][laugh][laugh]
BG just finished it last night, so I'll be able to start it tonight. Can't wait!

What a great camping trip you had! But, blechh - lobster ice cream?! [crazy] I'd have to pass. Lol![laugh]

Have a wonderful weekend, dernwyn!

*serves up nice, frosty virtual beer*

Armadillocon? Lolol! Only in Texas.

Have a great time! [:)]

I am always so glad when it finally becomes Friday, even with a short workweek like I had. I had a lovely trip to Utah, spent time with my sister and her family, visited grandparents, played tourist a little bit on Temple Square and other places, and spent more time with my sister-in-law than I ever have before. This was the first time that my brother and his wife have come on a trip with us, and that was interesting. I just have to say that it was a very good thing we didn't drive up, or I might have gone nuts. Our flights both ways were delayed, but not too badly. I've flown way too many times to be too flustered and annoyed by a delay.

One place I really enjoyed visiting was Gardner Village in West Jordan. That was fun, lots of old buildings moved to one area, and turned into little shops. I got to explore it a bit with my three-year-old niece. We were feeding the ducks (or are they geese? I hve no idea) and then we decided to go look in the shops. She was so well behaved, I almost couldn't believe it. She would carefully touch things, but would back off when I reminded her to be careful. Apparently, when my mom took her into a toy store later, she was really happy to be in a place that she could touch and play with things.

Tonight I'm going to my sister-in-law's sister's house. She regularly has nights at her house when people come over and make cards. Has anyone heard of Stampin Up? She's a demonstrator, and part of her fun is hosting nights when we go over and make a bunch of cards. Lots of fun. Tomorrow I'm sleeping in, and then I have a couple of things to do that I've been putting off. Like vacuuming. And cleaning my room.

Oh and maybe see a movie. I really want to see The Bourne Ultimatum.

That's it I think. Could I get a peach iced tea? That I think would be lovely, as would a nice shady spot.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Oh, and I really like your song, Altaira. Very sweet. I'm re-reading TTT right now, and I'll be meeting Treebeard soon, and now I'm really looking forward to it.

We're off to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tonight! And since it's a long weekend coming up here in Ireland, and the rain has finally stopped, I'm hoping for a few nice country walks and/or coast walks over the next few days. Let's hope August will be a bit warmer and drier than July - at least it's starting well!

We haven't reached 90F yet today (though we have the last three days), but it's still hot out.

Bravo for Walking Past Midnight. I really enjoyed it, though it's hard to hear it in my head because I have the soundtrack to TTT playing right now.

I've started a second job subbing at a local public library on the circ desk, so I'll be working tomorrow. Each hour that goes by I just go cha-ching. I'll enjoy my Sunday just doing "me" things.

Enjoy Harry Potter. I really did.

I had a feeling that might be the case. [laugh]

A bigger place that's closer to work is a good thing! Congrats. [:)]

I'm sure you'll enjoy Harry Potter. Have a good time at your family reunion.

And I'm with Altaira about the lobster ice cream - blechh!
