Just had to share an amusing little snippet... Here in France I picked up a free magazine called 'Culturissimo' - it's all about pop culture, music, books, films etc. Basically advertising for current releases. Anyway it had a few interesting articles including one about the 'Les Chevaliers d'Emeraude' series. These books are written by a Quebecoise lady, Anne Robillard. They sound very good - anyone read them?? Not sure if they are available in English or only in French...

In the article they were describing the fantasy style of Robillard and the lineage of the genre, and they said she is a passionate fan of 'J K R Tolkien'. [laugh] That seemed to me the perfect marriage "entre 'Arri et Frodo"!! Love it. [;)]

But seriously, I'd love to hear opinions if any 'sibs have read these books...
 
Sounds like they confused him with that other wildly-popular fantasy novelist who writes about wizards.

I've seen the books around, but they never piqued my interest enough to actually acquire a copy... they sound a little too Arthurian for my taste... not to mention that, for me, I don't get the same thrill reading these types of books in French as I do in English... I tend to get an image in my head of Inspector Clouseau dressed in medieval attire (or Patof, for that matter) and things just go downhill from there... [crazy]

Although Yves Montand could certainly change that perspective (if I can just keep that image of Gerard Depardieu as Cyrano de Bergerac out of my head *shiver*)...
 
You know those things happen! How many times have we read Tolkein instead of Tolkien? I know it's not excusable, but that comes from three reasons: typos, bad editing and/or a person who doesn't fully know what they're talking about.

I thought he was fantastic in that movie - it's one of my all time faves! He speaks Rostand's verse so beautifully... Ah well, chacun a son gout!! [:)]

Interesting to know you've seen the books - I haven't seen them in the US. I'll have to look out for them when I'm back in Boston...
