they are very talented thespians indeed. Not sure if she still is but cate was/is the artistic director for the sydney theatre company - a major touring company that recently toured 'a street car named desire' to NYC. They are both wonderful on film but their expertise, like mr mckellen, is theatre....they are truly inspirational!

Yes, Cate and her husband are still the artisitic directors of the STC. The play with Cate and Hugo Weaving as well as other very well known Oz actors is Uncle Vanya. Unfortunately/fortunately (depending on the perspective) the play was a sell out as soon as the cast was announced so no chance of a ticket.
I guess Hugo Weaving has finished filming Captain America. Last I heard Richard Armitage was still finishing his scenes so I'm not sure if filming is complete. Hopefull, Hugo and Cate will be in TH []

Yes, Cate and Andrew are artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company - Hugo (and Miranda Otto!) are popular performers for their productions.
I was lucky enough to meet Cate on several occasions when I lived down under. I had a season pass, so I was able to see her in War of the Roses and Streetcar, and met her before and after both times. She is an incredible performer!
I also met her at a couple "open houses" they held and met her at the Australian premiere of Benjamin Button. Was lucky to also meet Andrew (her husband) and Miranda! Miranda was a little snotty actually which surprised me[tongue]
Cate was one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She was radiant and kind and remembered me and we chatted. She is absolutely stunning in person. It's actually quite breathtaking. For a second I was too shocked to actually find words to say! No wonder she was chosen for Galadriel!
