I don't know how wide-spread the cartoon "Gil", by Norm Feuti, is, but it's been in my local newspaper for about a year now. The main character is a school-age boy.

(I had to laugh at the mom. I sent a LotR-themed cartoon out to friends some years ago, only to have one reply, "What's a Frodo?" I promised I did not begin my reply with, "Since you've been living under a rock for the last 50 years....")
 
I want a copy of the October 23 comic to hang on my wall. I think it evokes all sorts of feels with which most of us here can probably empathize. [heart] Thanks for sharing!
