Beorn scale

Based on the scale of the furniture and the size of beorn as a bear when Gandalf is talking to him in the banner, I'm guessing he's probably something around this size? Bigger than your average human, but not quite tall enough for Bilbo to walk through his legs.

Having said that, I'd be surprised if we don't get a direct refernce to it... bilbo scurrying between his legs and some point.

Also here's Bilbo sat in Beorn's chair.

We can't tell a huge amount from that as we do t know what size the chair is compared to Beorn, but what we do know is that the set was built to drawf scale, and compared to the heght of the dwarves on set, that makes the table about 4 foot high at dwarf scale.

Tables are approximately 40% of the height of a human. So that makes Beorn approx 10 feet high, about the same height in human form as in bear form.

If anything, I've actually made him too small in the mockup.

His scale seems to become pretty enormous.
So his movements should relate to that fact.

Slower movements and maybe a little more clumsy motion would be cool. Especially in comparison to the others.

I don't remember if the book stated his size, but I've always just pictured him like a huge man... not more than 3 meters... more likely less...
So I kind of fear that my mental image will be very different than what will appear in the movie, but now I am prepared! [:P]

he will be bigger sorry, I had done my maths wrong!

here's now big he should be:

that's completely in line with the description in the book, of how he was tall enough for bilbo to be able to walk between his legs.

He always felt human to me, but if he's that size he's more a giant...
I fear I have to watch this film so many times until I get used to a massive Beorn like that...

To quote Tolkien, Beorn was tall enough that Bilbo could have walked under his legs without his head touching the fringe of Beorn's tunic. In other words, Bilbo is only knee height in comparison to Beorn. If Bilbo is 3'6", that would definitely put Beorn in the 9-10 foot range.
