AUJ Extended Edition

Hi all, we're getting extremely close to the release of AUJ: EE and even closer to the digital download on 10/22. But it has been very quiet, has anyone heard anything or tidbits? The most I've read since the announcement has been non-answers from Doug Adams who works with Howard Shore.

The only indirect info we've received is that two big scenes from it has shifted to DOS (High Fells and extended Dale Attack).
 
Hmm..I'm lost. So you can actually buy the extended version in 13 days, and watch it online? Where would one find a link for this option? I'm not a very patient person, lol.

- PJ's commentary is interrupted by an Earthquake.

- PJ drops hints that there will be an elf/ dwarf romance in Desolation Of Smaug. (Kili and Tauriel he later confirms.)

- In his commentary, Jackson confirms that he won't use miniatures again. Apparently due to 3D

- Says the EE was "Okay". Not much added when compared to LOTR.

- Lovely menu screen, though: the camera floats around each room of Bag End.

- Confirms Eric Vespe from Aint It Cool News fishmonger cameo.

- Happy to see Leith McPherson (Dialect and acting coach) on the EE.

- Looking foward to Part 2.

- Hasn't watched all the docos yet.

Although the Tauriel/Kili stuff still sounds weird... I keep thinking that the word romance might be misleading... I could see him simply being struck similarly to how Gimli was struck by Galadriel, just in a less "mature" way.

The menu sounds lovely.
 
It'd only be fair considering some of us are paying quite a bit for the deluxe edition.

I know it's only two weeks (longer for the UK I think), but it seems silly that they're basically "punishing" the people that are paying more by making them wait.

There's been articles around that companies want to get rid of hard media - it's cheaper. This is candy to get folks to download, less investment in outputting hard media.
Like not bothering to print software manuals any more.

So this is just evil like making you walk through phone menus instead of getting customer service.
I'm still on the fence - I don't WANT to watch the EE on my computer and I'm not set up to run a file through the TV. I LIKE having a DVD or Blu-Ray. With only 13 minutes of
additional footage - some I already know I am not that excited for - pretty sure I'll just wait the 2 weeks.
 
Because like iTunes, you never really own the product and can experience frustrating technical issues, syncing issues, player upgrades, compatability, on and on.

Definately prefer a hard copy, be it a book, cd, move, game, anything.
 
After all, when 4K hits in a big way we will need discs to play it, there's no question. You're looking at 100GB files! It's impossible for that to be workable without physical media.

Sigh. An Elf and a Dwarf. Great. It sounds like a fetish film.
 
Kill me now with the Kili/Tauriel romance. I thought that rumor had been put to rest, but now I see it will become reality. I am open to pretty much anything PJ changes in the movies, but that's the one thing I WON'T be happy about.
 
I just don't know why we must wait for so long. The movie was released on CD and Blue Ray in the Spring and now it is the Fall and still nothing. It would be much better if they released it the Summer so that our enjoyment over the Hobbit movie stuff would be spread over the entire year but now everything will come at once.

yes, that's totally unfair!!! but i want it on blu ray with a nice box!!!
