Apart from Middle-earth, what fantastical places would you like to visit or live in?

firstly not have entered all those worlds you mentioned, but i'd like to be there first hand to witness the actual Christ experience.

Other than that, i just had the thought concerning the most wonderful,magical world from movie 'Avatar'.
 
...it made me smile that that's on here, given that (as you, a Washingtonian, would know) it's a real, physical place as well as a fantastical one. Having driven through Forks many times en route to Port Angeles or Hurricane Ridge, and having read the Twilight books, I have to say, neither the fictional Forks nor the real one are places I'd like to spend much time. Forks is a lot like Aberdeen, where I grew up, except minus my family. And honestly, I wouldn't want vegetarian vampires stalking me.

Give me the Potter universe any day, though!
 
All of these realms I enjoy 'venturing' into very much. If I was able to move about from each of them (including M-E), I may not come back.
 
not sure. But maybe fantasy-me is gutsier than real-me.

I have, in the past, had some highly developed fan-fantasy stories taking place partly in the Tardis and partly on the Enterprise with Picard. Why not merge the two worlds? Works for me.

Also, throw in the 'fantasy' world of Robin Hood and/or King Arthur and I'll jump in.

I wouldn't mind a small dragon lizard, either. (Pern)

And I sure could go for Hogworts or Shell Cottage or perhaps the Weasley house.

1) Outside of Crazy Horse South Dakota, running with Rutago and the Pleasure Gypsies (Logan's Run.)

Imagine Native American-Slavic styled Pirates who are the real outlaws in the Logan's Run variant of 1960s youth culture society. The Pleasure Gypsies live an an Old West style town (I think of Deadwood LOL) and their devil sticks are way cooler than motorcyles >D. For the countless times I've read this novel, I immediately think of that chapter. or Gray Girl. >>>
To note, the Pleasure Gypsies are the only part of the Logan's Run world I want to live in or see. As dangerous as these folks are, there are much worse places in and outside of the domes.

2 ) Captain America universe < Marvel comics >... The upcoming Winter Soldier series spin off to be specific.

3) Chumming with the Dragonlance fellows Tanis Half-Elven and Flint Fireforge on Krynn. No kenders, obnoxious elf maidens, hour glass mages or their ambitious sisters allowed please. ;)

There are so many more, but these three really stick with me.

I'd like to visit Mo, as in "The Magical Monarch of Mo". I think it'd be kind of neat to visit a place where it rains lemonade. Sticky, but neat.
 
I've loved Oz since I was four, and Narnia since I was fourteen. And Patty's mention of Mo (across the Deadly Desert from Oz) reminded me of Candyland, which to my kindergarten self was a really live place. Once when I was six I took my Candyland board for a map and went wandering out of the neighborhood and into a wheat field trying to get there. My mother was not pleased.

Want Mike from Heinlein too. (Though he is AI not an encapsulated "brain")

Though I'll skip Hal...
 
Because of Aslan, of course. [heart] Narnia feels like home because of him (and Middle-Earth because of Ilúvatar.)

The Wizardverse of Rowling
Terry Pratchett's Discworld (Only 2 others who'd like to visit Ankh-Morpork???)
A galaxy far, far away with Star Wars (would have been much higher on my list in my younger days)
The final frontier of Star Trek
 
HAL did what he was ordered to do. Dave Bowman thought so highly of HAL as a friend that he brought him back in 2010. Besides, any supercomputer that can sing "Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer true..." is allright in my book! [;)]
