Ryan Seacrest just announced it on E Online news a tonight! I've been chasing around trying to find another confirmation, but maybe you guys will have better luck! *twitch*
 
The Harry Potter site, " The Leaky Cauldron" confirmed it yesterday or the day before. Warner Brothers definitely confirmed that it would indeed open in the U.S. on July 11th ! This is indeed exciting news! It will open in the UK on July 12 rather than the 13th as was planned for both the US and the UK.

From the promo pictures I've seen and the release of the trailers, this looks to be the best of the Potter films yet! They are even including the " extendable ears" moments of the twins at #12 Grimmauld Place!

I am really looking forward to this one. Then, with the release of Deathly Hallows a week later....Sheesh! Are you trying to kill me Warner Brothers and Jo? [;)]

Not so pressing, IMO:
  • What is the significance of Harry having his mother's eyes? I don't think there's much more to this. His eyes were a factor in HBP when he was questioning Slughorn.
  • Are Dumbledore and Sirius actually dead? Update: JKR confirmed in New York that Dumbledore is in fact dead - but we still don't know about Sirius! I am tempted to use the phrase beating a dead horse, but that seems to be in poor taste. They are both dead, I am sure. OOP tries to lay this to rest but some people will believe what they want to believe.
  • Is Bill Weasley a full werewolf? No. He just likes his meat rare. See the end of HBP.
  • What lies beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries? Death.
  • What "worst memory" did Dudley experience when he was attacked by dementors in Order of the Phoenix? I think Dudley's story is pretty much told. I don't think there will be much devoted to him in Hallows unless it is in reference to his mother.
  • Who is R.A.B.? Sirius' brother, I think.
  • Will the two-way mirror that Sirius gave to Harry come up again? Not to talk to Sirius.
  • Is the relationship between Ginny and Harry really over? Will they get back together in the end? Duh! If he lives, she's the prize.
  • What did Dumbledore see or experience after he drank the potion in the cave in HBP? I don't think we will know exactly. It did sound like some bad guys were threatening his students.
  • Did Dumbledore mean anything significant when he said that the Dursleys had "mistreated Dudley"? He meant that they spoiled him rotten

Pressing questions:
  • Will Hogwarts reopen? And, if so, will Harry, Ron, and Hermione attend for their seventh year?
  • Is Snape good or evil? Where do his loyalties lie?
  • What caused Dumbledore trust Snape so much?
  • Why was Voldemort going to allow Lily to live after he killed James at Godric's Hollow?
  • Where are the remaining Horcruxes? And furthermore, was Dumbledore right about what the remaining Horcruxes are? If he wasn't, what are they?
  • Who will lead the Order now that Dumbledore is dead?
  • Did Voldemort go to Godric's Hollow alone the night he tried to kill Harry? If so, how do people know the events of that night? Interesting. Hmm.
  • What was the "gleam of triumph" in Dumbledore's eyes at the end of Goblet of Fire? Yes, this was in regard to V's use of Harry's blood, thinking he will now to immune to the protection given Harry by his mother. V then touched H to prove that he now could. Apparently, D realized there will be some unintended negative consequence to V that has yet to be revealed. Hmm.
  • Is there more behind Voldemort wanting the DADA teaching position so badly, or is it just because he simply wanted the job?
  • How will Peter Pettigrew repay his life debt to Harry?
  • If Dumbledore and Petunia were in contact before Harry was taken to Privet Drive, then what were they discussing in their letters?
  • Who was "that awful boy" who Petunia referred to in OOTP? Was it James, or was it somebody else?
  • Will Ron and Hermione's relationship finally come to be, or will something happen to prevent it?
  • What were Lily and James' occupations?
  • Will Dumbledore's portrait be of any use to Harry?
  • What will Percy do now that the Ministry has been proven wrong and Dumbledore is dead? Will he return to his family?
  • Where did Fawkes go at the end of Half-Blood Prince?
  • How exactly did the Potters and the Longbottoms "thrice defy Voldemort"?
  • Assuming Hogwarts will open in Book 7, who will be the DADA teacher?
  • Again, if Hogwarts remains open in Book 7, who will teach Transfiguration if Professor McGonagall becomes headmistress? And will Slughorn remain to teach Potions for a second year, even though he said he would only be there for one?
  • Will the terms of the Prophecy be fulfilled? If so, will Harry kill Voldemort, or will Voldemort kill Harry?
  • On her website, JKR stated that "there IS a significant - even crucial - answer" to the following question: How and why did Dumbledore have James' invisibility cloak? What is the significance of this?
  • What happened to Ollivander? And since there was no sign of a struggle when he disappeared, whose side is he on? And what about Florean Fortescue - are their disappearances linked?
  • What about Dumbledore's family? (JKR said in her interview with MuggleNet/TLC that Dumbledore's family would be a "profitable line of inquiry.")
  • If Voldemort lost his body at Godric's Hollow, then who retrieved his wand?
  • What's behind the locked door in the Department of Mysteries?
  • Why did Regulus choose to leave the Death Eaters?
  • Will we learn any more about Dumbledore's brother Aberforth? Will he have an important role to play in the book?
  • Who will reinstate the protective barriers around Hogwarts that Dumbledore removed so he and Harry could fly to the tower? Not just anybody could have taken them down or Hogwarts would be constantly attacked. Is Dumbledore the only one who knew how to perform those charms?
  • How did Dumbledore know the details of Lord Voldemort's murder of Lily - how LV offered to spare her life and how the charm that protects Harry was formed - if no one else was there to witness it? Was Dumbledore actually there to witness it?
  • What happened in the period of time between baby Harry's rescue from the ruins of Godric's Hollow and being left the NEXT DAY at the Dursley's doorstep?
  • What were Dumbledore and Snape arguing about that Hagrid overheard at the edge of the forest in HBP? Was it about spying on Draco, or was it something else?
  • What will become of the Malfoy family? Specifically, will Draco remain loyal to Voldemort, or will he change his mind and fight for the other side?
  • Where did Snape and Draco go at the end of the sixth book?
  • In Chamber of Secrets, Lockhart says that he transformed a werewolf back into a man using the "immensely complex Homorphus Charm." Now we know that Lockhart didn't actually do this, but he did steal the story from another wizard. So, is there a way to cure Lupin?
  • Will the giants and goblins take a firmer position about the war? Will they ever choose a side? Thanks, Ashley
  • Do we know the whole story behind Dumbledore's hand injury in HBP?
  • Assuming Hogwarts stays open, will the curse that Voldemort presumably placed on the DADA position ever be lifted?
  • Who helped R.A.B. retrieve the locket from the cave? (Dumbledore made it clear that two people were needed to get past Voldemort's enchantments.) And where is the locket now?
  • What significance is the fact that Mundungus Fletcher has been stealing things from Grimmauld Place going to have to the plot of the next book? Did he take the locket from Grimmauld Place, and if so, who did he sell it to? Will Mundungus be playing an important part in the next book?
  • JKR said that someone will manage magic very late in life in Book 7: who will it be? Filch, perhaps?
  • Did Dumbledore have a will or anything equivalent to a will?
  • Did Hagrid have to be able to see thestrals in order to train them? If so, whose death did Hagrid witness?
  • When Harry was taking Occlumency lessons from Snape in OOTP, he put more than one memory into the pensieve. What other memories did he want to hide from Harry?
  • When Snape is about to kill Dumbledore, Dumbledore says, "Severus... Please..." Was Dumbledore asking Snape to kill him or was he asking for mercy?
  • What was the potion that Dumbledore had to drink in the cave?
  • How did Dumbledore become such an "extraordinary magic user, even at a young age" (a quote from an OWL examiner in OOTP)? Was it just study and hard work, or is there something different about him?
  • If Hogwarts is opened again in the seventh book, who will be Head Boy and Head Girl?
  • How will Harry find his parents' home in Godric's Hollow? After all, Wormtail is the secret-keeper, and as far as we know, the only way to find the home would be for Wormtail to tell Harry its location.
  • Will Luna have a prominent role in Book 7? Will she live through the war?
  • Is there a connection between Godric's Hollow and Godric Gryffindor?
  • How did Hagrid retrieve Harry from the ruins of his parents' house if he was not told the location by the secret-keeper?
  • Now that Dumbledore is dead, who is the secret-keeper of the Order of the Phoenix? Is the spell broken?
  • Why did Dumbledore give Snape the DADA job if Dumbledore suspected there was a jinx on the position?
  • Will Voldemort be angry that Snape killed Dumbledore rather than allowing Draco to do it himself?
  • When Dumbledore is explaining to the Dursleys that the magic protecting Harry will cease to operate on his 17th birthday, each of the Dursleys reactions are given, and the book says that Aunt Petunia "was oddly flushed." What is the significance of her reaction? Does she know something more?
 
Jo Rowling translated the Swedish version of " Deathly Hallows" to mean the horcruxes. It seems they were having trouble with the translation, so JKR stepped in and basically confirmed or implied that it definitely concerns the horcruxes.

I, for one, am terribly glad to hear that as I most want to follow the trio on this hunt. I remain convinced that Harry will need to get some vital information from somewhere or someone on just how to destroy these vessels of Voldemorts soul. I doubt if Snape is going to lend a hand, but maybe...

I'm also interested in Dracos fate, the two-way mirror as Ataahua mentioned since JKR implied in an interview that we WILL see it again and whether or not Harry will take a trip through Dumbledore's pensieve.

The cover art of Hallows leads me to two things:

Harry has a look of determination and his outstretched hand has his palm facing upwards, while Voldemort looks a tad frightened and has his palm facing outward. Harry looks to be more in control. Also, the UK version looks as though an underground trip into Gringotts may be happening, although it could be anywhere else.

I'm looking forward to being taken out of Hogwarts for this one ( unless Voldemort attacks the school) and being transported to wherever JKR takes me to. I cannot wait to visit Godrics Hollow with the trio early on.
 
I want to read all the books again and watch all the films again before the new ones come out! How 'bout you all?
 
done a lot of thinking about these books! Those are some good points about Wormtail being the secret-keeper for James and Lilly. I wonder if the readers have stumbled across a plot-hole.

Some thoughts:

Why was Voldemort going to allow Lily to live after he killed James at Godric's Hollow? - I'm sure that was just a gambit for him to get a clear shot at Harry.

Did Voldemort go to Godric's Hollow alone the night he tried to kill Harry? If so, how do people know the events of that night? - Huh. I hadn't picked up on that.

Will Dumbledore's portrait be of any use to Harry? - I doubt it. JK has set up book 7 for Harry to act without any support (apart from Ron and Hermione), and I doubt she'll undermine that.

What happened to Ollivander? - I think Olivander was taken so that Voldemort can find a way to prevent his and Harry's wands from linking again when he next attacks Harry.

What about Dumbledore's family? (JKR said in her interview with MuggleNet/TLC that Dumbledore's family would be a "profitable line of inquiry.") - Harry will finally realise who Dumbledore's brother is.

Good idea! I wonder if he will overcome that problem or not. Personally, I don't think Harry will kill the last bit of V's soul. I think he will destroy the horcruxes but expect Snape will finish him off. I can't wait to find out!
 
I'm so looking forward to this movie -- and the added excitement of Book 7 just over a week later! I haven't found the release date for the movie in New Zealand, though -- I'm really hoping it'll be July 11th too. (Some movies open here months after their US release, though that doesn't usually happen with the big blockbusters.)
 
last night about the early release, and he WHOOPED right in my ear! "HEY, DUDE! CHILL A BIT!"

But then he realized he'll be visiting paternal g'pa when he makes it to Michigan for the summer visiting, and then the paternal g'ma the week after... and neither one are Potter-proned. So he's freaking that he'll probably have to wait until after July 21 when I pick his sister and him up for my visit. In a way, it's geeky-fun that he wants to see it with me, but nasty that he has to wait so long.
 
I'd add how are things going to end with Remus and Greyback? Something has to happen there.

I also think the issue of Neville's parents will be addressed. I don't think things will end with them stil in comas. They'll either recover or pass away - and for my money might have a part to play in the final battle.
