As I understand it, the writer has seen the movies, only her kids did not:

But it is always nice to see how much people still live in Middle-earth when they are visiting Hobbiton [;)] It is such a pity that I am living so far away; I'd dearly love to visit there, too!
 
how would YOU know what I was thinking if you hadn't made the trip first? Are there gutters in Hobbiton? ;)

I hope the author of this (who wrote a great article, btw), lets their children FINALLY see the films. How depressing, though, to not get the significance of where they were standing when it was too late. Fortunate for them they're Kiwis and have more opportunities to get there.

before the rest of the page loaded....after diedye's send off I was almost afraid for the page to finish loading
