A post of sorts...

Ainu Laire

Tol Eressea
Of TORn and anniversary sorts.

The weekend at the Comic Con reminded me that, sometime before I went to my first con experience in 2004, I joined a certain website that is affiliated with a certain author. Hmmm.

I don't remember the exact date, unfortunately, which always makes these posts rather random. I was never able to find 2004 in the old boards, unfortunately. All I know is is that in June/July of 2004 popped up the first introductory post by a little girl who was just about to enter high school. And I frankly am quite, quite happy that I did.

Throughout the years I have met many people from TORn that I feel blessed to have met. They are, frankly put, too many to name, but... yea. I'm going to try. I'm going to apologize right now if I missed you- my memory was the first thing to go ;)

I must give a shoutout to Gramma, who is the only woman I have met who is as positive- and, if I may say, bubbly- as my lovely mother.
Entmaiden, who helped a timid and embarassed 16 year old through ORC06 and made the experience much easier for me.
Altaira, who I can only recall with positive memories, even if I cannot quite remember the circumstances of the meeting!
Joellle, a member who I haven't seen post in a while, but who I talked with for a long time at ORC and absolutely enjoyed speaking with!
CAHobbit, also a great conversationist. :D I loved speaking to you, and hope we can talk more in the future.
MrCere, one of the friendliest persons I have ever met. Having dinner with you was absolutely fantastic.
Calisuri, who I admire for being one that helped TORn become what it is... but who will always be to me the guy in the Arwen dress in the picture I have hanging up on my wall. :D
Deej, who throws the best sorts of dinner parties, and the rest of the time, a wonderful woman to have met.
Arwen of the famed Bilbo's birthday parties- thank you, too, for those wonderful gatherings!
Garf, whose full s/n I could never hope to type in correctly, and who has organized so many things that it baffles the mind. It's been wonderful to speak with you throughout the years.
Quickbeam, who has one of the coolest hats in the world; one that I admittedly want. Your energy is contagious.
And, my thoughts to Balin, who I met briefly. I wish I could have known him better.

There are others that I have met who are not active on TORn any longer, or whose s/ns I cannot recall, including some from a couple days ago. Nonetheless, it has been a pleasure meeting all of you, and I hope to see you all again.

And to all the TORnsibs I *haven't* met: of course I would love to meet each and every one of you, but all the conversations that we have had on TORn, and even off of TORn, have been all little bits that have helped me grow in both the fandom and in life. All the humour, serious discussions, laughs and tears, all of it I recall fondly. I remember the analysis of the ROTK EE movie, and all the TIME threads, the scenes from a hat, the deep analysis of the books (deeper than anything I could ever come up with), and, more recently, the support I received when my parents and I went to China to fetch my little sister Sini. There are more memories, of course, but for now I think I've babbled enough.

Cheers to all I have met, and to all I have yet to meet! You folks have enriched my life in more ways than I can even begin to say.

Here's to many more years, before the Hobbit, after F2, and beyond.

I've really enjoyed your art work and loved hearing all about your new sister - that enrichment thing works both ways!!! makes me wish I could draw but stick people are about my limit!! A great mathom!!

my dear. I am glad you are among us because you are a beautiful spirit indeed. I hope you have a great day[:)].

You've been a delight to us, especially with your thoughts and feelings which are far mature beyond your young years, and with your joys and hopes and dreams!

And remember, you're going to keep us updated on your continuing education! Are you ready for September (or the end of August) yet? [:)]

Great post!! and some great memories!
May there be many more torniversaries to celebrate and people to meet!

It was great to see you at the two ORCs, and to meet your mother. I was so proud when your piece captured a prize at ORC06. Here's to many more memories! [:)]

Has it really been four years?

It's been a joy to have you here. Now don't disappear on us when you go to college! Let us share that journey too. (Star Bunny, are you out there? Smokering?)

I know you are on a lot of lists around here as well, too -- all good ones!

Glad you are here and happy TORniversary!

That was such an awesome convention, wasn't it!? I remember being amazed at your talent and grace :) We'll have to get together again sometime!

*raises mug* To Balin, to sibbies, to TORn and to you. SALUTE!

Cheers

It's been great watching you grow from a child to a woman here on the boards, though I have to say that you were always older and wiser than your years :-) You've enriched our lives too.

School starts on the 18th of August. I'm also in summer school, which ends next week. Still, I really like college.

And since I'll be in a LOTR class this next fall, I'll be saying stuff about it on Main later this year :)

I disappeared on and off during high school, but I should be here to stay. Besides, who else would I talk about my LOTR class to? :D

It absolutely cracks me up. I look so dorky. Great pic :)

And yes, I hope you will come to maybe the Comic Con, or perhaps I can make it out your way. I'd love to see you again :)

*klunk*

Sorry - that was me falling off the chair in surprise, and delight, and a bit of jealousy as well! [laugh]

That is so cool! What's the title of that class?

The class is being run by an English and philosophy teacher at the school. It doesn't count for any college credit, but there was no way that I was going to miss out on it.
