Just HAD to celebrate this unique date!!!! February 22, 2022 2/22/22! I meant to post it at 2:22pm; but here it is in my western neighbours' time zone ;)
In Middle-earth, Frodo spotted gollum following them down the river clinging to a log!

(NZ's Twos-day) there was a scattering of people turning up to their workplace wearing tutus, to mark the day. [:)]

How unique this is! Love your sign for it! (The img url wasn't behaving, so I transformed it to an inline jpeg.)

I've been spreading the word to family and friends! [cool]

Eleven years ago - were memorials held to remember the day? What's the state of the city centre these days?

as is normally held, due to Omicron crashing all gatherings.
There has been huge progress in the city centre, although there is still a lot to do.The Riverside Market is really popular and has this very cool Mural on the back of it. Yes, that is a flat wall.
One of my favourite places is Turanga, our central library. It's fabulous and has something for everyone.

It doesn't feel like it's been this long. *wraps arms around Christchurch*

The Library is incredible. I love how wood is used giving it a life feeling to it, imho. But that mural took my breath. A beautiful scar...

Love that mural - what details it has!

Oh gosh, the "Harry Potter" stairs in that library, it's like you're floating from floor to floor. The entire place is gorgeous. I'd love to spend a rainy day there. The webpage mentions an area with a birds-eye view of the Cathedral - whatever happened with that, were they able to restore it?

It's so lovely to be in a building with so much natural light. Every part of it has interesting spaces and shapes.

Here is the latest on the cathedral.
Last year they covered the gaping hole with an image of the rose window, which makes it much easier to look at.

If you want to have a look at how things are going in general, this site has lots of photos to give you a sense of what is happening.

And here is more about Riverside Market, one of our most popular new places. It's on the other side of that mural.

I'm definitely visiting it the next time I'm in Christchurch. (God knows when that'll be - I'm pretty much isolating at home.)

So much different from when I was there 8 (somehow 8) years ago, which is of course a wonderful sight.

It's quite freaky because it's not until you get incredibly close that you can tell it really is flat.
Very disconcerting.
I'm not going anywhere much. Adventures today: Contactless drop off for Midgey's haircut, and click and collect groceries. Riveting.
