First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
I had the chronicles of narnia as a child and grew up on public televisons adaptations of the series. It was not until I was much older did I find the connections between Lewis and Tolkien. I was in my late teens and had been trying to find a place to fit in. There was a local comic shop where I began reading ghost world and Daniel Clowes works. There I discovered how many live their entire lives. In devotion to their favorite forms of entertainment. The 2nd movie had recently been released, but I still had not read the books at that time. At a thrift store (a few doors down from the comic shop) I found a mint condition of The Silmarillion. That is where my heart started to become attached to Tolkiens work. Several of his other woks followed after including LOTR, and The Hobbit. I read them all yearly now as a tradition and keepsake. Time went on and I was finally able to enjoy the final film version of LOTR. Blown away by the beauty captured of this world...Tolkiens world to this day I could board up myself in a weekend and watch all the films in concession and do two to three times a yr. The beauty of this hobby is it never stops. Never grows old. Even now in my late tweenties I still adore Tolkiens works and abilities as an author/story teller/creator. I am thankful for the outlet of fantasy and art. Everyday.
Favorite Tolkien character:
Arwen. Because I'm a chick. Duh. Also she represents unfathomable beauty, trust and truth. Tough shoes to fill hu?
