Sam vs. Gollum Can't Post

If Frodo hadn't been there to keep the two from each other's throats, could Sam have ever beaten Gollum in a fight? Gollum gets no surprise attacks, Sam is on his guard and knows Gollum is coming. And Sam is armed with both knife and pans.

If Sam [In reply to] Can't Post

can send Shelob running, I'm sure he could take care of Gollum. Not straight away though, it'd be a lengthy fight.

Sam for sure ... [In reply to] Can't Post

Sam beat his head in, slapped him around, threw him on the ground, and even sliced him in the final confrontation. If Frodo hadn't been there holding onto his leash, Sma would've killed Gollum.

It depends on how hungry Gollum is when the fight starts. [In reply to] Can't Post

If Gollum is just peckish, I give the battle to Sam. However be afraid, be very afraid if Gollum is ravenous. I only give Sam half a chance of winning in that case.

Listen. Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!

Yeah, really... [In reply to] Can't Post

cause Gollum is so thin and agile, whereas Sam is a little overweight (even after the walk from The Shire) and he gets out of breath easily. I don't give good odds to Sam, I'm sorry to say.

Sam would have gotten alot stronger after that long perilous journey through middle earth, and as for him being over weight, what? He gave most of his lembas bread to Frodo, only keeping a litte for himself.

Well... [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, you know, didn't Sam kind of beat Gollum once? Like, not in a hard fight, but in like a tiny one? When they were on Mount Doom and Gollum came at them (in the book not movie) Sam did beat Gollum enough to send the little Slinker crawling away. Granted, Gollum turned around and snuck right back after them, but Sam DID beat Gollum, even if the victory was short lived. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure thats how it went down.

GO SAM! :D
