Legolas vs Beleg

Yeah you know it. Legolas vs Beleg in the following circumstances: A. 100 orc run at them. Who would dispatch all of them? If both do, who is fastest? B. Who can shoot the farthest most accurately? C. Who can take down the biggest Uruk? D. Close quarters: when they don't dispatch all of the orc, who is best with the blades? YOU DECIDE!

A. Since they both get attacked in their respective homes (therefore none of this 100, 300 1000000yards nonsense), they get jumped at only 10yards and both die horribly. B. Legolas. Whilst Beleg is renowed for his bow ability, he also carried a longsword and must have given some time to learning it to a proficient degree, especially as he chose to wield such an awesome blade as Anglachel. Therefore leaving less time to become quite the master of the bow that Legolas was. OK Legolas knew his knives, but Beleg did too ya see (palms up, sidelong look, raised eyebrows, shrugging shoulders), so no matter what way you cut it, Legolas has one fewer weapon to master, so has more time to learn the bow. C. Beleg. See B above and Beleg's sword ability. No point in talking about biggest this, biggest that, if all you're going to do is shoot them at a distance. D. Well as I said, it was only 10 yards, so only, say, 3 orcs go down, and as Beleg is better in close quarters, he duffs the most up before being butchered himself. Cheers Padster

Cúthalion, or "Strongbow" (Sindarin cú + thalion, "bow + hero"). He didn't get this nickname for nothing. Beleg was one of the foremost archers and warriors of the First Age. He was renowned for his skill with both bow and sword and was given Anglachel (the meteoric iron sword forged by Eol the dark elf) in recognition of this. Beleg was one of Thingol Greycloak's enforcers for thousands of years and fought in everything from the first battle in the wars of Beleriand to the hunting of Carcharoth to the Battle of Unnumbered Tears. By the time the Third Age rolled around, the Elves had diminished like everything else in Middle-earth. Legolas, though a worthy warrior and master archer, wouldn't have held a candle to the doughtier First Age elf. So I'm going for Beleg over Legolas in all categories.

Many have said the same when I compared Turin to Aragorn. Men of the first age were better warriors than that of the third. Thanks for you input!

Beleg is cunning, but he seems more like a human than an elf to me somehow. Legolas would win for sure.

what you mean by saying Beleg is more like a man that elf. He seems, in build, much stockier than most elves I am accustomed too. I've always thought elves as more slender and lean creatures, compared to humans being more built and burley. But in mind, he is definitely an elf for sure.

Beleg would win if he had the Iron of Death. His enemies would be scared of it, and he was also named Strongbow, and you also have to add to the fact this question...was he sneaking up on them? If so, then he'd win because in the Silmarrillion it says that he is the best hunter ever.

either the two. Him sneaking up, or the orcs just rushing him.

........that Legolas is a Mirkwood elf and little is known of his movements. If Legolas trained and lived the majority of his life under the canopies of the Mirkwood trees, he would hardly have the opportunity of becoming a master with a bow at great range since he would be fighting orcs within the wood, or on its borders. Beleg, on the other hand, travelled far and wide and would, presumably, have greater opportunity to become proficient with his distance archery. As others have mentioned, there is also the minor clue in his name! When all is said and done though, whilst innate natural ability will have some influence, when you're talking about immortal beings with an almost unlimited time to become expert in whatever they may choose, is any elf really going to be significantly superior to another elf in anything?
