The encounter with the Barrow Wights appears to have been confirmed: the July issue of Empire mentions the wights and includes concept art:
Don't mess with my favorite female elves.

It's kinda how I pictured them too when reading the Fellowship of the Ring and how they look in the Fellowship of the Ring 2002 video game as well. They look creepy, which I like!
"Keen, heart-piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and the song of Lúthien released the bonds of winter, and the frozen waters spoke, and flowers sprang from the cold earth where her feet had passed."

What are those...because certainly they are not the same as Barrow-wights of Tyrn Gorthad :)...because they physically cannot be the same....hehe...hell if they put this amount of thought and design into actually differentiating the cultures of Middle-earth instead of pandering to the race obsessing diversity crowd they wouldn't fail as monumentally at worldbuiling basics hahahah.....Seriously now...the scarlet robes and golden jewellery....these should be how the Haradrim dark skinned people of the south should look like :)...funnily enough I don't think they even thought through the worldbuilding implications....I mean the Barrow-wights naturally were part of the local conditions the Barrows, the ancient burial mounds....but the peoples of the east and south....they probably were burning their dead :). After all as Denethor says: "To my pyre! No tomb for Denethor and Faramir. No tomb! No long slow sleep of death embalmed. We will burn like heathen kings before ever a ship sailed hither from the West. The West has failed. Go back and burn!' The messengers without bow or answer turned and fled. " But again...I need to remind myself...this trash tier fanfic has NOTHNG to do with Tolkien worldbuilding :). Wights in themselves all cool right...but then the context, the place in the world (not to mention the cultural roots that are once again twisted) it's feels hollow!
