Who would make a good Anatar (Sauron) if they did include the forging of the Rings of Power? Nicholas Hoult looks good. Handsome, piercing eyes, imagine him with long blond hair............

Benedict Cumberbatch for Sauron/Annatar? [In reply to] Can't Post

I could see Cumberbatch in the role, though scheduling might not allow it. He already voiced the Necromancer in the Hobbit films. Nicholas Hoult's appearance is a bit too generic for my taste.

I think Ben is brilliant as an actor but I see Anatar being classically beautiful with eyes that can transfix. A bit like Hoult but I feel he's a bit young. I see him not being overly masculine with a strong, dark bearded chin, someone you would look at and listen to and believe you could completely trust him as a friend.........................which of course he would not be.............Evil

Nicholas Hoult [In reply to] Can't Post

is someone I refuse to allow anywhere near a Middle-earth film. The fact that he's playing Tolkien already is bad enough. I'm sorry, but after suffering through the X-Men films with him, I can't even.

If I were casting Annatar, well, my go-to option is Tom Hiddleston, just because he plays such a good charming villain, but you know, Rami Malek is somebody I could see in the role, or Jude Law. Those are two that come to the top of my head right now, but I'm sure there's more. Alexander Ludwig, from Vikings?

Do we know that Annatar was blond btw? I imagine a dark honey-blonde, perhaps.

I have always imagined Sauron as Don Rickles [In reply to] Can't Post

Intensely handsome, physically imposing and bald, with a sharp sense of humor.

Jude Law [In reply to] Can't Post

We were very keen on him for Annatar (who I was tempted to make blue, honestly--we have nothing to go on). He can be kind of enthralling in an appropriate way. The Talented Mr. Ripley, I particularly remember, seemed like all the life drained out of the movie after his character died.

Yeah, he's probably booked up for the rest of his life.

Sure. [In reply to] Can't Post

Jude Law would work for me too. Would he be likely to sign up for a series?

My brother thought it worth trying, at this budget. He seemed to be figuring we could have a small number of big stars of that magnitude. But more than that I don't know.
