Does it always rain in Bree?

Every time we see Bree it is raining. Is that always the weather in that country? Rain, rain and rain. I wonder if they have ten words for rain like the Eskimos have for snow. Still, makes weather forecasting easier I suppose. Tomorrow it will rain, the next day it will rain, for all next week it will rain, the week after that, sunshine and showers. No, only joking it will rain! And possibly the men of Bree can make waterproof gear like nothing else in Middle-Earth!

Elrond to the men of Bree: Here, with this leather you will be able to make water proof clothing like none that exists upon this earth!
I simply walked into Mordor.

It always rains in Bree and Carrots is all that man ever eats. on a side note I laughed when I saw PJ as the man in Bree again it was not so much him doing a cameo it was more the fact that he looked directly at the camera and too a big bite out of the carrot as if to say "here I am no need to look for me remember me from FOTR? thanks for the money!" lol EDIT: and now that I think about in FOTR there is a shot of Aragorn and Hobbits walking through the country wuth Bree visible in the background and it's not raining. well it could be drizzling we don't know we're not there EDIT AGAIN: I just remembered in the book there is an old Bree saying "It never rains but it pours "

when merry sees the black riders in bree after going for a walk after supper. he says he was looking at the stars. so the evening of their stay in bree seemed like a pleasent one.
This is a serious journey, not a hobbit walking-party.

I never liked this decision. Bree struck me as a happy place where the inhabitants, big and little, lives in harmony with each other. The rain and the way the Prancing Pony was set up makes Bree menacing and unfriendly. Didn't like it in FOTR and still don't in DOS.

... a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than the Prancing Pony, apparently. In Fellowship of the Ring, this is arguably reasonable because of Bill Ferny and squint-eyed southerners and the like. In the 'Hobbit' period, which is supposed to be lighter and free of the influences of Sauron and Saruman, it is harder to justify, except to make it look more like LotR. A contrastingly cheerful Bree and Prancing Pony would have been much more interesting and put the gloom of FotR into higher relief.

And Thorin was distrustful, sometimes to the extent of paranoia, of other races. That he would view Bree as menacing and unfriendly (especially with warrior instincts kicking in at the two assassin's presence) does not strike me as odd at all. And dwarves in general after the fall of Erebor were looked down upon (and no that's meant metaphorically, not as a pun) by the other races, so a warm reception in Bree (unless someone needs smithwork done) seems rather unlikely as well. Now if Bilbo felt uneasy in Bree like that, it would be out of place, IMHO.

It's foggy. And I suspect the Sun doesn't always shine in Hobbiton, either.
