Yeah... [In reply to] Can't Post

A lot of us have said the same thing.

"Things need not to have happened to be true.
Tales and dreams are the shadow-truths that will endure
when mere facts are dust and ashes, and forgot."

Completely agree [In reply to] Can't Post

The pig looks stupid! It needs to be said :-)

The concepts for the boar are amazing. Actually, many of the concepts for these films were amazing, but in some cases, something went wrong between the concept and the execution.

PJ fel in love with a pig. [In reply to] Can't Post

PJ really liked the pig that was eating Kingsfoil, http://screencapped.org/...82#top_display_media so he and Fran adopted her and PJ took her as inspiration for Dain's pig. You can watch this in the appendices of TBOFA ( I can't remember which part.)

I like it [In reply to] Can't Post

I like that, as fearsome and threatening as Dain himself looks, his mount isn't as much so.

A boar would look more threatening yeah, but i like this for Dain's character. And really, i still wouldn't want his armoured pig charging at me.

I think that would be PJ [In reply to] Can't Post

I would have preferred a fierce boar. And yet, with Dain's character, that salty toughness - somehow I can see THIS Dain having a great big 'ol pig that he's fond of. It's kind of another up-yours note to the character. Love me, love my pig.

Besides, it has not happened to me, but apparently pigs can be pretty vicious.

Why not a pig? [In reply to] Can't Post

Pigs can be very dangerous animals.

And in this case he's riding a pig because Peter Jackson likes that particular pig. His choice - I think she looks good.

Boar versus pig [In reply to] Can't Post

I would have preferred a fighting boar but the pig was so cute and Dain looked so awesome on it that I don't care.

Exactly. [In reply to] Can't Post

The fierce and salty dwarf warrior riding the cute little pig also contrasts nicely with high-n-mighty Thranduil riding his over-the-top magnificent Irish elk. Cool

I think a pig worked better against the wood elves... [In reply to] Can't Post

My guess is that the intension was to play up Dain as the opposite Thranduil and the wood elves by having him ride a "working class" down to earth animal. You could argue a Boar would have had a similar effect but I think a pig worked better because its more of a farm animal where as you could associate a boar with hunting like thranduil's Stag.

Hey Dain, been awhile! [In reply to] Can't Post

Yeah I agree, I would have liked a boar with big tusks better - and it would have matched Dain's beard, LOL!

You can hear the pig snorting as he approaches Thranduil - ROFLOL

What a contrast LaughLaughLaugh

And it's a nice touch too, seeing them both in the EE fighting not far from each other.Heart
