What about Hugo Weaving?

I'm quite surprised there has been so little (or nonexistent) talk about Weaving reprising his role. I know it's early, but still, two years ago, we talked of him as the third role that needed to be consistent with the existing movies. I can't find an official site for him... any guesses on this?

Unless the actor has a reason not to, it seems he would be back. While in the "Hobbit" half of the films he and Serkis would have a small role in terms of shooting schedule, each has a chance to be featured a lot more in the not-calling-it-a-bride-movie movie. Agent Elrond is essential to give the films continuity.

I just did a search and in the "Hobbit cast" posts I have found most people have listed Hugo Weaving as Elrond. Maybe it's just quiet because we haven't heard from Mr. Weaving himself on the subject, whereas Sir Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis have both dropped hints in the past that they would be reprising their roles.
Where's Frodo?

We have gathered that you have not had the best of days Mr Cere....:) It all depends in Hugo Weaving's schedule. The casting directors have to work this stuff out too. We can't assume everyone will be available when we want them. Which might do interesting things to the proposed shooting timeline. What are some of the considered actor's schedules like? Having just had the baby, it would probably be the best time to book Cate. I imagine her schedule is as open as it will ever be. The rest,I don't know.

and they're showing at least three rumored movies for her, unfortunately none were The Hobbit. But I think I remember reading on the news page that she does want to go back to Middle Earth or am I mixing myself up again? Probably

provided it would be with PJ again (it was at the time when there was the big rejection of PJ by the then still boss of New Line...) And she was eager to work again with Hugo Weaving for it!...

I've voiced this desire before, but I'd love to add weight to this thread. We need Christopher Lee and Cate Blanchett if any White Council material is going to exist in these two movies. And we obviously need Elrond as well, but more importantly for his brief but important appearance in The Hobbit. PLEASE del Toro, get these guys. And film all of Lee's scene ASAP. Don't spare the horses on that great film acting legend.

... so I wouldn't get too worried yet. GDT stated that he wants continuity and intends on keeping the main elements. I am confident that this would include Weaving, Blanchett and Lee. We were fortunate to have PJ do the 'first' three movies ... and it now seems that we are fortuneate to have GDT for the next two.

I think it should be Weaving. I couldn't imagine other Erlond nowdays. And what is important, he is a bridge to the LotR as sir Ian and Andy . I think this should be better choice.
