Tragedy beneath the show ?

As I review the reviews, something is pouring : the new scenes push the harder tones. This is no PG-13 movie, more violence is in the garden. Let's list. - Smaug's attack on Laketown : more deadly, people burning. - Galadriel at Dol Guldur : a fatal blow on a deadly orc - Negociations between Thorin, Thranduil and Bard : more harsh, more agressive on both sides - The fight between the Elves and the Dwarves : a confrontation instead of 'a good hammering' - Thorin fighting the dragon sickness : more something like an addiction craving - The Dwarves antics in the battle : diverse and gruesome - The trolls in the battle : not dying at first sight, but killing at first sight - The troll driven by the eyes : food for nightmares - The chariot race : blood and tearing for rams and for wargs - Alfrid's destiny : a double kill - The charge of Hilda Bianca's in Dale : women and children effectively giving their last - The funerals ceremony : what losses truly mean All that may be what I had feared to see in 3D HDR... Beware, being adult isn't always a vaccine against nightmares

Films rarely affect me but I vividly remember a feint feeling of nausea when Legolas and Tauriel kill the orcs in Bard's house. All those sound effects. I wonder how BOTFA EE will sit with me.

Violence is truly a doom, so the ending part of the book was somewhat due to doom Even if PJ's skills are tremendous to put some distance and fun to battle scenes (like the orc-kamikaze against the wall), somewhat it's not a bad thing that the EE won't be shown widely on wide screens because bloody battle scenes may cause trauma, or worse : habituation to violence (which will happen if no restriction is asked) To maintain the PG-13, PJ had to cut so much that the storyline lost substantial substance. On the other hand, we know by now that the TE couldn't be finished in time, so we have left to chose between an un-finished PG-13 version and a 18+ polished version. I will of course buy the 3D Blu-Ray EE version and think I'll be enjoying the movie as well as the fact that my 3D TV screen is... tiny.
