The nonfan edit Can't Post

Or aka as the PJ fanboy edit.

What i would cut if I were a non reader of Tolkien? Lets make list just for fun.

IMO i would start with DoS. Because is the best of the trilogy. And I don't like AUJ, is very childish and gave us a lot of information that I don't understand (Bag End, Rivendel, WC, Dol Guldur). Also, the prologue on DOS give me all the information i need to know. And the most important, there is no Legolas in AUJ!!!

No Beorn, who cares about a 10 minutes character?
No Bilbo, who cares about a 15 minutes character? Everyone knows that main roles are Legolas, Kili and Bard.
No elven bridge in Mirkwood, the important are the spiders and the elves
And when the group divides just stick to what happen in Laketown. Cause the main characters are there.

Actually it would be pretty interesting to see.

The main character would be Thorin, not Bilbo. The movie would open with Gandalf and Thorin in Breen, gathering the other dwarves and then starting the jouney.

- No trolls.
- No Radagast
-No Hobbits
- No Rivendell

The first place to visit: Misty Moutains
No Beorn, just jump to Mirkwood. Then the elves and Legolas stuff.

Yes, I was mean, and its kind of a joke.

But mainly its an edition with all the PJ stuff, appart of the Hobbit adaptation issues. Maybe the result its better than the Tolkien and PJ creations combined.

Taking out the AUJ movie, Bilbo doesn't seem to have more screentime than:
Gandalf
Thorin
Bard
Alfrid
Legolas
Tauriel
Kili
Azog
Bolg

Azog, Bolg, Tauriel, Legolas, Alfrid and Kili in DOS and BOTFA.
More than Bard and Gandalf in DOS.
It is a tie between Bilbo and Thorin.

If you omit the hobbit, what would the title be? The Dwarves? The Dragon? Thirteen Loons & a Fire Breathing Serpent?

Fili, the blond dwarf forgotten by PJ, would be the point of view of The Quest of Erebor. He would survive the final battle and become king, then everuthing ends happy.

I am no sure about the ring. Do we really need to see it?

Already done with LOTR [In reply to] Can't Post

http://fan.theonering.net/...four_arwensuper.html

******************************************
The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.”

Well Dainpig, you're right again, and again, and again... [In reply to] Can't Post

I didn't count the minutes that each character its on screen. But the focus of Bilbo its very unfocused. In DoS he fight the spiders, free the dwarves from The Woodland Realm, and talk to Smaug (great talk). But Gandalf, Bard, Legolas and Kili often seems much more important than the little hobbit who makes some comic relief.

The Botfa totally lost him, he steals Arkenstone , he gives it to Bard and Thranduil, he argues with Thorin and then disappear. Not much more important than Dwalin, Balin or Bofur.

And the title Quest for Erebor its great!
And Fili as the King too!

And trying to save Thorin by tell him that a second army is coming. And Thorin's death scene plus the last 10 minutes of the film.

I can say with utter confidence that Bilbo has the most screetime throughout the entire trilogy [In reply to] Can't Post

Because I've actually timed it.

(I do that sort of crazy thing, purposefully to avoid these kind of errors; it's how I knew both quests exit the Shire around the 44 minute mark).

[To a corpse] "You're looking so well, darling, you really are. They've done a marvelous job. I don't know what sort of cream they've put on you down at the morgue, but I want some."

Im sure that Bilbo gets a lot of screentime in AUJ, the whole movie is about him, except some WC and DG or Azog. I was speaking about the other two movies.

He still has the most screentime [In reply to] Can't Post

The margin shrinks to make room for the narrative expansion, but he still has more time on-screen.

Pretty sure Bilbo has the most screentime.... [In reply to] Can't Post

After BOFA came out I'm sure someone or some publication (may have been Empire, or may not, I don't fully recall) worked out the screen time for all the main characters.

I think Bilbo came top, followed by Thorin and Gandalf. I guess it depends how exactly you calculate 'screentime' but he certainly has as much screentime as any other character and more than he gets in the book!
