It's a very exciting trip. I can't wait to see their videos. I spent a lot of time animating my video (see below), so it's quite gut-wrenching that I didn't get picked. I really was hoping I had a shot. Oh well, such is life.

I'm pretty saddened by the news, but it's remarkable that they even organized such an extensive trip (75 winners!) in the first place. And even more remarkable is that 75 of our fan community around the world will get to experience it.
Let's hope they take lots of pictures!!!

I'm wondering how many will drop out when they realize they have to pay their own airfare. I stopped participating because there's no way I can afford a flight for two people to New Zealand in November.
But again... Very exciting for those who make it out there!

Well, that is AWESOME then! I read through the rules before and they said winners were required to pay their own airfare. Just reading through them now and it looks like that's changed. :)
EDIT: Looks like I just misread this bit, which is OBVIOUSLY about making sure your passport is up to date. D'oh:
Winner must meet at his/her expense all requirements to be able to travel from Territory to New Zealand on travel dates. Void where prohibited by law.

Sure, Flying in from Australia wouldn't be nearly

I've been saving money for almost 2 years, hoping to see the final film in Wellington. Spent some of it getting a passport so that I could enter this contest, but my $240 will NOT be wasted, I WILL go to NZ sometime next year. Between the tax refund and the hubby's bonus, we SHOULD have enough money, though it might be next Christmas before it really happens, but it WILL happen! I posted something last year about going for the final movie in like, Dec. 2014 or Jan. 2015, and I was hoping some other TORNers would want to travel together, but only got one response. So I guess I'll watch the final movie at the local IMAX, and then after Christmas bite the bullet and $ave, $AVE, $AVE!!!
In the meantime I have been looking at other tours, and there IS a nice Dec. 7 Hobbit premier tour scheduled by GoNewZealand, for a mere $6 - $9 grand, LOL! Maybe if I win the lottery or rob a bank Oh well, there's always next year. If anyone is interested in traveling next year let me know, maybe we can travel together - put together our own Company for a Much-Expected Journey to Middle Earth! Hobbiton/Wellington or BUST!
