"The End." *spoilers*

Wow!!! This was the most satisfying extended edition of the entire trilogy! It started with that amazing Bilbo and Bofur moment and then it only got better from there. The dwarves really came back into the limelight. Bifur's axe removal and Bombur's first words made me cheer out loud. New Dol Guldor scenes with old Bolg were fantastic. And that funeral!! Whew!! I had only a few gripes though. Noting major at all, because I loved the film, but still just a few. First, Gloin and Oin had no character moments in the battle like the rest of the dwarves did. I also don't recall seeing Dori have one either. Also, Thranduil, Bard, and Beorn didn't really have any closure. Also, I didn't quite understand how exactly Alfrid died from the catapult. Yes, he got launched into the troll's mouth, but it didn't bite him. Suffocation I suppose? Overall, I was riveted by this new film, which it really is. It actually took its time and, just like DOS EE, ascended to LOTR level for me. These EE films really feel like the definitive versions of these films. I can't wait to have this on bluray so I watch it again and experience the loads of extras. Do you guys think this extended edition helped improve the film for you, or no?

This was the most satisfying of all extended cuts... I left the theater very happy and full of positive energy.... Crowd just loved it...had 100s of folks all dressed to the max in their Middle-Earth costumes...

There seems to be building threads for each new scene...

Which isn't fair for the majority of people who haven't seen the EE yet and those that want to discuss other subjects on The Hobbit without seeing spoiler thread titles.

You said you had 100s, I want to move wherever you are, because I only had 6 people in my theater in Norman, OK... where do you live?

I saw it in one of the smaller auditoriums of the AMC 30 in Houston, and while there were for sure dozens of folks attending, I don't think it was over 100. But then, the event played at many different AMC cineplexes around the city and Houston Tolkien Fandom was off in a different one. I didn't see anyone in costume. I was rather pleased with the turnout because the only places I saw any mention of the event were here on theonering.net and the Houston Tolkien Fandom meetup group. It was great to experience the film with a bunch of other Tolkien fans.

There were 200 people in the theater you went to? There were only 20 people in the theater where I saw the EE.
