Stoked for Smaug! Can't Post

Just read the main board about GDT's take on Smaug, and I am getting PSYCHED....he seems to have a sense of Smaug's greed and what drives that lust....and that Smaug is the iconic dragon in the way Gandalf is the wizard...who remembers Merlin after LOTR??? (ok, props to Merlin...) We have seen amazing dragons on screen, but I saw spiders too and then saw Shelob....I have a feeling we will witness in Smaug something groundbreaking like Gollum....voice, image, movement, character...I've wanted to visit New Zealand and see Mt. Doom....now I'm imagining the Lonely Mountain!

I can't wait [In reply to] Can't Post

to find out which actor GDT has in mind to voice Smaug!

"O Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
We still remember, we who dwell
In this far land beneath the trees,
Thy starlight on the Western Seas."

"It was Sam's first view of a battle of Men against Men,and he did not like it much. He was glad that he could not see the dead face. He wondered what the man's name was and where he was from; and if he was really evil of heart, or what lies or threats had led him on the long march from his home; and if he would not really rather have stayed there in peace..."

"Many folk like to know beforehand what is to be set on the table; but those who have laboured to prepare the feast like to keep their secret; for wonder makes the words of praise louder."

the Voice [In reply to] Can't Post

I sort of "don't want to know"....about the Voice of Smaug....
it would be cool if we didn't know and were all blown away...and then the credits rolled and we freaked out at who it was!

but we may know, and will watch with anticipation....I remember finding out about Treebeard's voice and loving it...hrrrooom....

See it did not really care for Treebeard's voice... [In reply to] Can't Post

I guess I had higher expectations. But all I could hear was John Rhys-Davies trying to camouflage his Gimli-voice. It was a bit disappointing...

Not a good choice [In reply to] Can't Post

As long as it's not JRD or James Earl Jones.

I loved Treebeard's voice too! [In reply to] Can't Post

At the time I couldn't believe it was John Rhys-Davies, but now I can hear it.
