SnowpocaHobbitlypse Can't Post

So there's 25 inches of snow in NYC and I had my supplies stocked and put on the extended DVD of An Unexpected Journey...had not watched in a long time. Wow!! Loved it!! Even the crazy stunts that defy gravity and would have killed the average dwarf!! I love how PJ started and ended this trilogy, and got emotional at some points...riddles in the dark is one of the best scenes of all six movies...
Now for Desolation of Smaug!

What a brilliant idea! [In reply to] Can't Post

I can imagine The Hobbit trilogy to be a nice companion on such a day. I love the films and it's always so nice to read other people being positive about them.

Smaug is the best dragon on film

Vermithrax Pejorative (Dragonslayer) gets high marks, but her designers and builders never quite got the design of her wings to the point where they functioned well as forearms. And she lacked Smaug's intelligence, cunning and (dare I say it?) charm.

Draco (Dragonheart) never felt...quite...real.

Procrastination the day after [In reply to] Can't Post

IMO, one of the more spectacular successes is the changing environments of the Hobbit, and I think for me - well, OK, thinking about it love them all, but Mirkwood and the obviously icy Laketown, Erebor and Ravenhill IMO are standouts. OR the imagery Tolkien evokes and inspires....

Beautiful and agree about Evankart.... [In reply to] Can't Post

An artist who IMO can not only capture a likeness, but interpret the characters and scenes, plus love the use of IMO deceptive simplicity and a neutral color palette.

Not sure I could pick a favorite, but I have always liked "young Thorin and Dwalin"....

I just like thinking about the young prince and his friend, happy and growing up together, before the "shadows closed in".

Just gorgeous work IMO!
