Little things or details that need to be in "The Hobbit" films according to you Can't Post

What are some of the things that you really want/need to see in "The Hobbit" films? No matter how small, ridiculous or trivial, just anything that according to you should really be in there.

Here are some of mine:

- "The Road Goes Ever On" song
- Gandalf's rune on the door of Bag End
- Gandalf's smoke rings
- Bilbo forgetting his handkerchief (and getting one from Elrond at the end of the story)
- Elrond examining the swords
- Gollum's boat
- Bilbo loosing some of his buttons when escaping from the Misty Mountains
- Treelogs for seats in Beorn's house
- Bilbo climbing to the top of a tree in Mirkwood
- Damaged Dwarven beards after their encounter with the spiders
- The Dwarves rebuilding the Front Gate
- Thorin shooting an arrow at the speaker's shield
- Round shields on the backs of the Dwarven army
- Gandalf's arm in a sling after the Battle of the Five Armies

"'Good morning!' said Bilbo, and he meant it." [In reply to] Can't Post

"'What do you mean?' [Gandalf] said. 'Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is morning to be good on?'
...
"'Good morning!' [Bilbo] said at last. 'We don't want any adventures here, thank you! You might try over The Hill or across The Water.' By this he meant that the conversation was at an end.
"'What a lot of things you do use 'good morning' for!' said Gandalf. 'Now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won't be good till I move off.'"

That passage defined my sense of humour from a very young age, and I desperately hope some tiny reference at least is made to it.

But Turin passed away on the northward road, and Glaurung laughed once more, for he had accomplished the errand of his master. Then he turned to his own pleasure, and sent forth his blast, and burned all about him. But all the orcs that were busy in the sack he routed forth, and drove them away, and denied them their plunder even to the last thing of worth....

I had a lot, but I can't think of them all right now. [In reply to] Can't Post

-"As he lay in bed he could hear Thorin still humming to himself in the best bedroom next to him:

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day,
To find our long-forgotten gold.

Bilbo went to sleep with that in his ears, and it gave him very uncomfortable dreams. It was long after the break of day, when he woke up."

-Dori carring (and dropping) Bilbo while they're running from the goblins.

-Dori helping Bilbo into one of the five fur trees.

-Bilbo thanking Thranduil for his "hospitality".

things big and little: [In reply to] Can't Post

- elves making merry for a change - eating, drinking, singing and playing musical instruments

- a truly magnificent Arkenstone

- the butterflies Bilbo sees above the trees in Mirkwood

-Bilbo picking up a pinecone on the homeward journey as a memento. There's one in his house in LOTR. I carried one down from a camping trip in the California Sierra Nevada Mts 45 years ago and still have it. It's just what you do. It would be a small detail (which PJ and company are good at) to create continuity with all 5 films.

Smaug's smart mouth. [In reply to] Can't Post

Labelling Bilbo 'barrel-rider' is a must. (I missed Eowyn's 'Beyond foul Dwimmerlaik!', so perhaps I'll be luckier with a less old-English bit of name-calling.)

Also to ditto Lissuin's comment on a fabulous Arkenstone, which doesn't look cheap or plastic.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

El Corazón [In reply to] Can't Post

I haven't seen the movie lately, but I remember being impressed by the first reveal of the El Corazón emerald in Robert Zemeckis's Romancing the Stone. It's hard to remember exactly why it looked so beautiful, except that it seemed almost to glow with a light of its own somehow, as if it was doing much more than simply reflecting light from its surroundings.

Some of mine [In reply to] Can't Post

- "In the hole in the ground..." spoken by Sir Ian Holm
- Different in colours dwarvish hoods.
-Some Gandalf's magic, like him making rings of smoke of different colours. Some fireworks also would be nice.
-"Far over the Misty Mountains cold" song
- All the quarrel of the Trolls! It's so funny!
- Singing Elves!
-Berons large bees.
- Bilbo helps dwarves to escape Mirkwood without any assistance from Tauriel or nayone else!!!!! - My greatest wish!!! It's one if the key points.
- Necromanñer in flash.
- Sale in Bag End.
-The much richier clothes of Mr. Baggins in the end.

And some other, that already mentioned in toic

Far over the misty mountains cold

To dungeons deep and caverns old

We must away ere break of day

To seek the pale enchanted gold.

Too many, but first of all, continuity with LOTR. [In reply to] Can't Post

First of all and at all costs.

PS: plase notice that "continuity" doesn't mean "same mood".

Mine: [In reply to] Can't Post

- Doorstep of the Secret Door scene, including Big Snails on the rocks on the Doorstep, the whole passageway to be filmed to perfection by PJ, expecially the dramatic moment when Bilbo finally chooses to brave his fears and enter the chamber of Smaug.
- A great Radagast the Brown
- A decent script for the vast quantities of dialogue that Tolkien did not put in the Hobbit, but which will of course have to be created for the film. (thinking most especially of the whole White Council and its actions as well)
- A good place to end the first film and a good place to begin the second (something akin to the start of ROTK would be nice)
- Bolg's bodygaurd to be awesome
- Gandalf lighting the pinecones and throwing them at wargs which look better than in the LOTR films! (wishful thinking concerning the latter part)
- Plenty of Historical scenes akin to FOTR
- Not to much crazy haziness and warped surroundings when Bilbo wears the ring (although a different portrayal to the LOTR films, its the only feasible way to do it, as he wears that ring a lot!!!)

A Distinct Design for the Goblins [In reply to] Can't Post

Hopefully they aren't just Orcs, even though they technically are the same

I hope they reinterpret the eagles as well and don't go with the exact designs from LOTR

An amazing, magnificent Smaug and the scene with Bilbo creeping into his lair I think will be paramount

I also cannot wait to see Bilbo climb the tree in Mirkwood and looking out over the canopy

The scene in Mirkwood [In reply to] Can't Post

where the company wander off the path and try to ask the Elves for help, but they keep vanishing in the darkness. I always loved this scene and could visualise so easily the campfires spookily dissapearing and blasting into life somewhere else.

Singing Dwarves and Talking Animals [In reply to] Can't Post

Though I might accept Talking Dwarves and Singing Animals....

******************************************
Brothers, sisters,
I was Elf once.
We danced together
Under the Two Trees.
We sang as the soft gold of Laurelin
And the bright silver of Telperion,
Brought forth the dawn of the world.
Then I was taken.

Brothers, sisters,
In my torment I kept faith,
And I waited.
But you never came.
And when I returned you drew sword,
And when I called your names you drew bow.
Was my Eldar beauty all,
And my soul nothing?

So be it.
I will return your hatred,
And I am hungry.

Ditto this and pale enchanted gold song [In reply to] Can't Post

I love how Gandalf and Bilbo really twist the meaning of good morning in this scene. In my recent rereads this moment really endeared Bilbo to me. It cracks me up time and again.

And, yes ditto to include Thorin's little song-spell about the pale enchanted gold. Love that...

I'm pretty sure we'll see hear the "...these are the things Bilbo Baggins hates" song in Bag End > hope Bofur and Nori sing lead on that one.

Really would love to see some fun new dialog for the dwarves to make each one stand out even more.

Everything else: gravy, really. Just thrilled these are being filmed :)
