Gothmog (the Orc) cameo in BOFA? Can't Post

Did anyone notice the (potential) Gothmog cameo during the battle? I can't remember exactly when, but I think it's toward the end of the battle after Bard rallies the people of Laketown for the last time. The shot doesn't last for very long, but it looks a lot like Gothmog.

To go a little OT am I the only one who would like to see him "CGIed" in an "ultimate" ROTK [In reply to] Can't Post

Just to go a little OT but after seeing Azog and Bolg am I the only one who would like to see Gothmog taken the same route? Besides how over the top his makeup is I think theres a case that the kind of character he plays is simply better suited to CGI. Unlike your standard LOTR orc he's not just a killing machine monster or deliverying a few over the top cockey sarky lines, he's like Azog a smarter general who needs to show a range of emotions that are hard to get across under the makeup.
Looking back he doesn't actually interact that heavily with anyone so I would guess sticking a CGI version over him would potentially be possible as with Sauron becoming the troll at the black gate.

Gothmog... [In reply to] Can't Post

..is great as is- he has more character than Bolg or Azog. There is a nice reference to the film Waterloo where he does not move when his sidekick get flattened by a big rock (Wellington does the same, but not a rock in this case but a cannonball).

Not necessary but AZOG at least in BOFA is AWESOME. [In reply to] Can't Post

In lotr there are some moments when will look cheesy tricks of special make up compared to this digital orcs of the last movie. For example that shot hen the orc falls into cirith ungol atop hole and his wig is gone

The flagon with the dragon has the brew that is true

I noticed this too. [In reply to] Can't Post

The BOFA orc has almost the same face as Gothmog, though without the disfigurations/growths. Perhaps it is a young Gothmog. Wouldn't be surprised if they admitted as much in the EE appendixes.

I think he's clearly lacking in character relative to either of these two and especially Azog who shows much more subtley of emotion.

Generally the "real" orcs in LOTR were fine as none of them really needed to show much subtley of character but for me Gothmog was rather different and more akin to Azog.
