Unfortunately, that is one of the uglier truths about fandom. There are always the extremes where one side has to be absolutely right while opposing views are unquestionably wrong. Even in these forums there have been fans who cannot distinguish between objective facts and subjective opinions.
Granted, calling the Hobbit films flawless masterpieces is extreme, but so is proclaiming them to be utter, salvageable train wrecks. I will acknowledge that there are departures in the films from Tolkien's original book that do work better cinematically. Others, especially where they result in massive changes from Tolkien's legendarium, do not work well, at least for myself. I would place the tombs imprisoning the Ringwraiths in that latter category.

I do fall somewhat in the first category of your original post. I liked many things about PJ's Hobbit films, but I had hoped for greater fidelity--if not with the actual book then at least with Tolkien's legendarium as a whole. I liked the basic idea behind Tauriel, but not what was done with her relationship with Kili. I liked that the films incorporated embellishments taken from The Lord of the Rings and its appendices; however, I had issues with many of Jackson's original additions and alterations, especially the more over-the-top ones. I won't go into detail because this has all been hashed out over the last several years.

Yeah, in the end each one has their own view/take/opinion on stuff and it won't be changed. I guess I'm just more tolerable to the changes made in the Hobbit, because I was tolerable with the changes made to LOTR, and had no major issues with them.
But, in conclusion, to each their own.
