Casting for "The Hobbit"

Please, Please.....please don't cast someone other than Ian Holm for the role of Bilbo!!!! He played such a great part in LOTR that I feel he must be in this as well. Please no young big ticket actor!!! I have seen some of the choices in the rumor mill and all of them are bad choices, so please, convince Ian to return!!!! I may also add that LOTR was great because a good balance of unknown and known talent....with zero big ticket actors (....i.e. Tom Cruise), and I believe it should be the same way for this film....believe me it will be just as authentic. Don't let the fans down!!! J

I thought Ian Holm did a brilliant job playing Bilbo, he is just too old to play a 60 years younger Bilbo in 'The Hobbit'. Some of the casting suggestions being bandied round at the moment sound good to me. I particularly like the idea of Martin Freeman .

I see what you are saying, however in "Fellowship..." Bilbo didn't look that much younger (you remember when he found that ring in the cave???) and also, once he gained possession of the Ring, it had delayed his aging. Surely in 2009, Ian can't have aged that much (10 years...can't be that bad), and of course, hollywood or wingnut can work digital wonders to get that youth back again, but the main thing is, I am sitting here reading the story and I am thinking about the the Bilbo played by Ian....It would be disappointing to see anyone else play Bilbo...but of course its Ian's choice if he wants to play the part again....which I hope he does. I always thought he looked a bit too old in this flashback to the time of 'The Hobbit'. You have to remember hobbits live to around 100, that's more than men do, so a 50-year-old Bilbo has to be the equivalent of a 35-year-old man. At his age, Ian Holm could not look like 35 or 40. And he would have to do much more than in LotR, that could be too tiring. Plus, I have not heard anything that he wants to play Bilbo again. But I know how you feel - it is difficult to imagine another actor as Bilbo. Hm ... I don't know much about that, but would it be expensive to make him younger digitally? Costs are always a factor.
I do not suffer from LotR obsession - I enjoy every minute of it.

I would love to see them work some make-up on Ian so he could return as Bilbo, but if their going for a young actor I would like to see James McAvoy he has that innocent hobbit-look like Elijah (in my opinion).
I know I live in my own little world, but it's OK they know me here!
