Bolg/Azog Armor Theory

So I was watching DOS on Bluray with my bro and a few friends, and my brother pointed out something I had never noticed before. Bolg’s armor is actually sewn into his body, its part of him. If you look along the metal plates that cover his ribs and back, you can see the blood and stitching, the armor is actually part of his body. Now I have a theory, what if Azog’s scars on his body were caused by him wearing the same sort of armor, nailed into his body, which he later removed for some reason? Now let me take it a step further. Everyone is expecting Thorin and Azog to get suited up in awesome sets of armor for the Battle of the Five Armies. What if Azog gets a new body suit nailed into him again (where the scars are) for the final film? That would not only explain the origin of his scars, but also be incredibly badass! Anyway, just a theory…what do you think?

Azog's scars have a decorative quality that speaks more to the practice of ritual scarification. Good observation, though, about Bolg's armor!

and have a strong belief that Azogs costume and maybe bolgs will be upgraded or changed a bit for TBOT5A. The war apparently may be fought in the snow. Snow is cold, and these two seem to like having their bodies esposed. So i am guessing that they may put something over their current costumes to keep warm. I cant think of what Bolg will do, because that implanted armour is very impractical. But Azog, I believe may have some sort of bear skin coat over his chest and shoulders, with his current loincloth still. Something like this, I hope, and can really see pj doing for Azog. http://www.valinor.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/WB_AzogBodFin_V1_AJB.jpg
I believe that Azog and Bolg are possibly the only two orcs who may be an exception to the typical evil nature of an orc. Azog had brought up his son, well enough that he actually acknowledges him as his own son. That is a first for any orc. And Bolg sets out to march upon Erebor in vengeance of his fathers death. How many orcs will Try and avenge another dead orc? Most will just forget about the dead one. This gives me hope that Orcs, have some traits of good in them, even if it is small aspects.

I remember pointing out that I really want to see some kind of costume change for Azog. Why? There are several reasons: 1.) I really like seeing costume changes in general because the whole story takes place during a long period of time. The whole journey to Erebor takes almost a year or at least half a year. Sometimes you need to change your clothes. That's why I like the changes we see in the movie (not talking about the Elves who change their clothes in almost every new shot). We see Bilbo changing a few times from a blue coat (market), bathrobe (unexpected party), red coat (unexpected journey), blue Lakemen coat (after Lake-Town) and we see the Dwarves with different clothes at least once each movie: Journey (AUJ), Laketown (DOS), Battle (BOFA). Why not changing Azog at least one time? 2.) I really like some of the concept arts of Azog presented in the last chronicles book. Some of them are really cool and I don't understand why they decided to give Azog this... "not special look". Yes he looks menacing but why does he have to look bare-chested all the time? During all these centuries he looks completely the same in all of his appearances (except for a better CGI in DOS and his claw hand). 3.) It's a big battle that takes place in winter. I don't expect Azog wearing any kind of armor since he didn't wear one during the Azanulbizar battle but since it's winter he perhaps may wear a leather coat. We know from DOS that Azog liked to hunt down the Beornings and we see Bolg wearing bear claws on his back so wouldn't it be great to see Azog wearing some kind of tattered bear skin (as boldog mentioned)? It would look cool and it would be reasonable looking at Beorns-Azogs past. 4.) A coat just looks badass! Especially if you are a leader of some kind of army. Imagine the image of Azog on his White Warg arriving with his army and the winter wind blows through his coat. Please PJ give us this image!

I think it would really add to the "grounded" grit, making the movie more believable...(As far as fantasy goes). LOTR had that gritty feeling of realism, which came from believable practicality within the chatacters. (Dirt and grime under fingernails, wet stained bottoms of cloaks/ garments, travel gear...ect) I believe the hobbit movies have this, just not on the same level as LOTR...IMO Giving azog proper winter attire would go a long way in adding another level of realism to the movie.
