In your opinion, what would be the size (height, weight) of Beorn as a bear?

the Brown Bear, which he seems to be roughly modeled after, the adult male can stand about 5' (1.5m) high at the shoulder, about 10' (3m) if standing on its hind legs and weigh up to about 2,400lbs (1090kg). Beorn looks to be a bit larger than that to me, but we don't get many good scaling references for him in the movie. Say he's maybe a quarter to a third larger than a normal large male Kodiak?

on movie Beorn footage yet, so I gather TABA will be the deciding factor if he matches up to what I have in my head. Most of the neat images when Googling Battle of Five Armies.

... wouldn't those shackles have broken the moment he shape shifted into bear form?

...ask yourself, if you were putting shackles on a man who could shift into bear's form at will, what would be the point of using a shackle which he could break by shape-shifting? None at all. So I'd say there has to be some magic involved in the shackle. Either it's on him whatever form he's in - and it wouldn't be the first thing in Middle Earth that could change size - or it only applies to the man Beorn, and reappears when he becomes human. In terms of size, the poster image of bear-Beorn with Gandalf showed him taller, but not that much taller. Pretty much the size of man-Beorn in the film. But his bear form may change in size - it does in the book.

...than shown in the promo material below. Gandalf is around 6', and in this image Beorn looks to be around 10'.

You're right but I think judging from the size of the head, it seems Beorn as as "werebear" is far bigger than even a record-sized kodiak
