BOFA EE Question (spoilers) Can't Post

Can anyone confirm the orc army marching shots from trailers are in? There were at least two. One showing army marching INTO the wereworm holes and one with azog hands raised standing on a rock.

Not in... [In reply to] Can't Post

I think these shots were replaced with the scene with Azog walking out of the worm hole and feeding his Warg. I think originally we were meant to see his army approach and enter the holes but they opted to instead keep the shot empty. Perhaps to avoid confusion that orcs were drilling the holes. You can see the camera angle is almost identical. If the shot of the orcs marching into the holes last a few seconds longer I'm sure it'd pan up to the mountain just like the current shot in the TE/EE. I personally would have liked to have seen the army at least nearby, but again they might have been worried people would think they were digging w/ machinery or something.

Another question ... [In reply to] Can't Post

What is Gandalf doing while Elves and Dwarves fighting against each other? He let them do such thing although he knows that the enemy army is coming?
We know, that sequence is completely different and goes further than book, but still - there is at least some reaction from him?

As expected his "Thranduil, this is madness" takes place during this section.

Gandalf during dwarf-elf battle [In reply to] Can't Post

I have been trying to recall what Gandalf did during this, and I think I remember now: the Lake-men do not join in this part of the battle (Thranduil tells them not to), and Gandalf (and Bilbo) remain with the Lake-men/women, Gandalf seemingly to protect them.

Thank you...follow up question... [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for the reply. How are they many extra battle scenes not centered on main characters (e.g., the new trolls attacking Erebor with catapult scene shown in the EE trailer). I always loved the shots sweeping over the armies or showing the battle at large; these seem to be some of PJs best scenes.

sweeping shots [In reply to] Can't Post

There are many new sweeping shots of the battlefield and of army movements. The battlefield geography is far more coherent, though Dain's entrance was still confusing to me. The direction he comes from (appears to be the south) doesn't make sense, but perhaps it was adjusted for the change to Dale's location in the film. Probably the most dramatic new wide shot is the charge of the dwarves on their war goats.

One question for me : What did Thorin do [In reply to] Can't Post

...while Dwalin, Fili, Kili and Balin went on the chariot ?
Did he follow them on a ram, along the iced river ?
How did he get on Ravenhill ?

Thorin [In reply to] Can't Post

He didn't follow them, but it looks like he led the way to Ravenhill, until the chariot got knocked down onto the river. He isn't shown until Dwalin cuts the goats loose from the chariot and ride them the rest of the way. I don't think Thorin was on the frozen river at all.

chariot scene [In reply to] Can't Post

Thorin is riding a single war goat, and the other dwarves are on the goat-pulled chariot following him. After a battle sequence the dwarves on the chariot (except for Balin) cut the goats free of harness and ride them, following Thorin up Ravenhill. Balin remains with the chariot.

There's a five second addition to the fight, but he does exactly the same.

Bolg [In reply to] Can't Post

Bolg's death is the same, except that the scene is longer and more gruesome. It shows Legolas plunging the knife into the top of Bolg's head and then Legolas twists the knife. It made me feel sick to my stomach.

fight [In reply to] Can't Post

Logolas stabbing the knife into his head was there, the twist wasn't. Along with stabbing his knife into Bolg's hand earlier, that was added.

War is ugly [In reply to] Can't Post

That's why I was frightened by a PJ's version.
The TE was bearable, the EE might be less enjoyable in 3D HFR, especially for children, but for adults alike.

Any thoughts about that from the EE viewers in IMAX Theaters ?
