Weta: Master Swordsmith's LOTR Sting replica

A friend kindly alerted me to the newest in the Master Swordsmith's line at Weta: a limited Fine Art edition of 25 handcrafted Sting replicas. For those of you made of money, hurry now and order yours for only $8,000 USD! Or you can chose the almost-as-handsome Movie Version for $5,500, which is less obsessive about the grip details. Just a note, this is the LOTR version with the inscription.

$8000 is roughly equal to £5000. That is a ridiculous amount. Sure, we would all love to own a Weta made Sting, but seriously?! For that price I am more than happy that I have the United Cutlery version of Sting, especially as it is 50 times cheaper! It is nice though ....

And really don't like it's display case - it looks like they've put it in a coffin!

The price is too high in my opinion The sword looks fabulous though - I'd love to buy it and keep it in a display case at home.

This was made by Peter Lyon himself right?

But in my opinion, it's still not worth that kind of money especially when you can buy a great UC replica for 50 times cheaper. I don't think I can appreciate that fact it's hand-made, for that price.

Way overpriced in my opinion, and the case is terrible. It should be at least a clear front display cabinet styled, not a coffin.

If I were tempted, the case would definitely put me off.

probably has much to do with the price as does exclusivity. The other swords all sold out. When compared to other custom swords by the best smiths in the world, these are very expensive. Peter Lyon is an excellent smith himself and has produced some of the best work I have seen, and I am not talking about his LOTR work, but it is clear this pricing reflects the level of recognition the movies have attained.

without the two Hobbit films coming out, I reckon the price of this would be a lot less. It would be interesting if anyone here will buy one, and if they do, please post opinions, views and pictures
