This pencil drawing of the infamous Queen Beruthiel appeared on the cover of Mythprint in, if I recall correctly, the same year I drew it--1997.

Not really. But the sweep of her jawline is strong that I didn't want it to take the viewer's eye right off the page. So I put in a little "stopper" to redirect things and help keep the viewer focused on what I wanted--their faces.

Beruthiel has such strong features. She's somewhat androgynous, which seems to fit the character and her story.
And that's such a wonderfully feline cat! It looks enthralled by Beruthiel, and frightened of her at the same time.
I think this is my favourite so far of all your wonderful pictures.

Yes, this is also good. Bruthiel indeed looks androgenous, as Kimi says, and generally this looks right. Bruthiel does not look necessarily evil, although she does look... well she certainly could be evil.
Do you normally envision Bruthiel as wicked, or just kinda neutral?

Based solely on what little Tolkien actually wrote about Beruthiel, she was not a nice lady, to say the least!
