Put Your Friends in a Barrel

This is a fun little song I wrote about a fan of The Hobbit who perhaps takes some of the lessons from the book a bit too literally. Played on guitar with alternating D and A chords. Still needs work but I hope you like it! Put Your Friends in a Barrel One night as I read the Hobbit A passage caught my eye. Bilbo put the dwarves in barrels And so saved all their lives. I thought the idea was grand And I made my resolution: Should ever my friends be in need Barrels would be the solution. Chorus: O, Put your friends in a barrel! O, Put your friends in a barrel! O, Put your friends in a barrel! And you can save their lives! Walking into a restaurant I saw my good friend Ed His check was large, his credit card lost There was sweat on his head. I knew he couldn’t pay it, That enormous IHOP bill So I put Ed in a barrel And I rolled him down the hill. (Chorus) Then there’s my writer friend Erin Having trouble with her prose. She couldn’t find an end to her story So in the barrel she goes. My grandma with her walker On the sidewalk looking sweet She wanted to cross so I tossed her in And rolled her down the street. (Chorus) Zoey and Jake were fighting Standing angry in their yard I put them in two barrels And clamped the lids down hard. The question is where to put them all So I continued with the scene I read that Elves had sent the barrels Down a rushing stream. (Chorus) Gathering up the barrels I pushed them in the water My friends screamed so much you’d almost think I sent them to their slaughter. So apparently barrels aren’t a good idea I think as I sit here in my cell. My friends pressed charges and rudely said “I hope you rot in hell.” So I sit here with The Hobbit. And this song to you I sing Planning my escape But first to find a Ring! (Chorus)
"Despair, or folly?" said Gandalf. "It is not despair, for despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt." "This is the hour of the Shire-folk, when they arise from their quiet fields to shake the towers and counsels of the Great." http://hobbitmeals.wordpress.com

Elven by name, Hobbit by nature 'Road lead ever on and on down from the door where it began now far ahead the road has gone down from where all began' -FOTR- and through all the world has changed the ages come and go with time and yet those remain unchanged unto they journey westward over the sea...
