One day I got bored so I created these various custom DVD inserts a few years back. I got the images from the ROTK EE credits...
If I have enough time, I'll turn it into a desktop wallpaper someday... :)

I actually don't know what you mean when you say "filters" but I do remember I use the Luminosity blending mode in the Layer properties. If you want I can send you the PSD file so you can get to arrange the positions of all the characters.
But IMHO, you don't probably need to rearrange it.
I've spent nearly a day trying to position them according to their relationships to each other and their importance to the trilogy. Anyway, that's my interpretation. You can probably make a better one. I think I made Arwen bigger because the official posters of the movie also did it.
