Hey everybody i´m new around here, my name is david velasquez and i have some old illustrations about lord of the rings that i rarely show. i got very excited today because of the hobbit movie news and since it is probably that i start doing some hobbit fan art, i would like to show you my lord of the rings stuff first.

i´m sorry about the caps, its just that i use to write in caps all the time, but it is not a problem, i wont shout anymore, hehehe.

I like the energy in your pieces very much and would like to see more of them also! Love the orc faces in particular. The colors are almost like stained glass, and yet have a watercolor feel to them as well; I'm thinking of Dr. Martin's dyes. Very enjoyable!

I really like all of your illustrations! They have a wonderful sense of energy and motion. And I love your use of color -- how did you achieve that stained glass effect?
Your illustrations of Shelob and the One Ring are my favorites. And the expressions on the faces of the Orcs are priceless!

hey maura!
i supose they have some stained glass feel , i applied so many different textures and effects that they all ended that way, i was also a little bit careless with the coloring, i like to be fast and i let the magic of digital effects create accidentally cool atmospheres, so i guess thats the result, hehehe.
thanks for your commentary, i´´l bring more art.

hey idril!
about the stained glass effect, well its a little bit hard to say how i did it, because i aplly so many diferent effects and color manipulation that at the end there is a stained glass atmosphere created accidentally. try to apply as much shadow as you think it must be in the drawing, and then proove what kind of effects give you that result. threshold of blackness should be usseful i think.
