Halloween Costumes & jack-o-lantern

I promised grammaboodawg that I'd post some pictures of the bear costume I made for my son; also, I wanted to share my own Halloween costume. Since this is a Tolkien forum, there had to be something Tolkien-inspired -- our Eye of Sauron jack-o-lantern cast its baleful glare over trick-or-treaters this Halloween! Click on the link below to see them in a slideshow. (Roll the mouse over the pictures to see their captions.) Halloween Slide Show I sewed the bear costume from a Simplicity pattern; my son picked out the fabrics and matching notions. The bear mask is papier mache with scraps of costume fabric glued to it; the bear's eyes are from the plastic cover of a pack of dust masks. I made the firebird's head from papier mache, too, and colored it with papier mache'd tissue paper. The wings are poster board.
With caffeine, all things are possible. The pity of Bilbo will screw up the fate of many.

Your "eye" pumkin lit up at night really is impressive. Very creative costumes as well, and your son makes a very handsome bear.
I've heard your anguish, I've heard your hearts cry out We are tired, we are weary, but we aren't worn out Set down your chains, until only faith remains Set down your chains--Jewel

I love that idea! Maybe I can do one here for next Halloween! The costumes are cute too, especially the bear! -ML
