Hi chuck!!! First of all, your picture is superb!!! (as usual). Really superb. Second of all, where HAVE you been?! One of the (many) reasons I wanted a Fan Art forum was to lure artists like you back to posting here. So, my evil plan worked. Mwahaha! Welcome to the new boards, my friend!!

especially the larger image. You've captured his stern pride very well and I love the soft grey shading.

I'd like to hear about what media you used. That is colored paper, right? and what inspires you? tell us mor abotu you art and yourself. waht motivated you to do two on one, and in different media? or if those questions seem dull, whatever you care to say about you work. All in effort to promote more conversation about the art on this board.

Thanks for the welcome! I never thought I'd see the day that TORN's boards would be re-designed, and of course I love the new Fan Art sub-section! My own board is quite active these days so I don't often venture out very much anymore, I'm certain you know the feeling well Cheers Altaira! It's great to see some other familiar faces too- diedye, Annael: Hello! linkin-artelf: thanks for the kind words!

Hi Daughter of Nienna, the medium used here is acrylic on illustration board. The idea behind doing two portraits was in order to allow different aspects of the characters (and the actors' wonderful portrayals) to be shown. I was interested in the idea of 'the journey' that each character takes through the course of the story. Thank you for the kind words!

Stunning work! Just stunning. You've really captured him with all his pathos, from proud to stern to sad. A multifaced portrait for a multifaceted character. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us.
"Once upon a time I had a mind to make a body of more or less connected legend, ranging from the large and cosmogonic to the level of romantic fairy-story - the larger founded on the lesser in contact with the earth, the lesser drawing splendour from the vast backcloths... I would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama." J.R.R. Tolkien
