Best Fourth Age fanfics.

As I'm not quite familiar with this branch of fandom (fanart, fanfic, etc) I would like to know which are considered to be the best fics dealing with the Fourth Age, and maybe beyond. I'm looking for fics dating from the last years of King Elessar onwards. Thanks for your help!

It does depend upon what you are looking for. Two places I know that have a wide selection of fanfic.... Henneth Annun http://www.henneth-annun.net/ Also MEFA ... this site is part of the Middle Earth FanFiction Awards and has an archive of links to stories.... http://www.mefawards.net/ Also many of the people here have indulged in fanfic and have links in their signatures.

My favourite place for fanfic is http://www.storiesofarda.com/ but there are plenty around. Also, on hennethannun.com and some other sites there's a search function to find all the stories set in a particular time or with a particular character. Henneth Annun does have some adult fics, but they'll be marked. On the other hand, if you're especially looking for slashy type fics, libraryofmoria and faramirfanfiction are quite big ;)

Thanks for the links! You're right, I should've elaborated on what I mean by "best". I'm looking for fics that, at first glance, you could almost swear were writen by Tolkien himself. Obviously there was only one JRR Tolkien, but I'm sure there must be some fics set in the Fourth Age regarded by the fandom not only as quite close to the tone and style of the writing in the LOTR (no slash or things like that, for example), but to the continuity in it (no great war two hundred years after the War of the Ring involving 45756 balrogs on one side and 213434 Noldors on the other, for example).

The first two ORC (One Ring Conventions) were hosted by both TORn and Creation... there was a best fanfic category. My friend ErinRua won both years. The first was for "The Last Grey Ship" -- Legolas leaving Middle Earth. The second was an Eomer POV "Ashes, East Wind, Hope that Rises" In my opinion she richly deserved the awards. She does an excellent job of channeling Tolkienesque writing. You can find the stories by googling or going here and scrolling down to the bottom. Her tales are clearly marked with the ORC banner. http://burpingtroll.com/LOTRrelated.htm

for the link. I just read "The Last Grey Ship" and truly loved it. You said it very well, it's as if she channeled Tolkien's way of writing.

Very interesting topic. I'm usually not a reader of fanfic, but...

watching TheHunt4Gollum convinced me to give fan generated stuff a try. I'd also be interested in seeing any illustrations/pictures of fourth age fanfics.

I've read hundreds and hundreds of fan fiction, and while there is a decent amount concentrating on events after the Ring-war, the only ones I can remember that happen after Elessar's death usually deal with Arwen's or Legolas' reaction to his death, and not much goes beyond them. The only ones that happen more into the future are modern fics that have some sort of LOTR connection, whether it's reincarnation or time-travel. Best of luck in your search, though! There are a couple of writers who I consider so canonical that it's a bit eerie, but they haven't ventured into post-Elessar writings.
