Arwen's crown Can't Post

I can't really say that the crown counts as art, but as a decent piece of craftsmanship I felt like showing it off :-) I'll justify the post by the argument that the photograph itself counts as an artwork...

Smile Thanks - it was an interesting task making it. I feel I've threaded enough dratted crystals to last me a lifetime.

Gorgeous! [In reply to] Can't Post

And as far as I'm concerned, costumes and props are just as much art as fanfics and paintings. It looks amazing! Smile How long did it take you to make?

hmmm [In reply to] Can't Post

I obviously haven't got the hang of replying yet. I estimate that about a week of solid 9-5 days would have done it - I worked on it bit by bit over about a month. If I had to do it again (gods forbid) it would take less time, as I had to learn a lot of the techniques.

I love the detail, it must have taken a long time. What is it made out of?

Anorien... [In reply to] Can't Post

It's made of a bunch of stuff. The crown itself is nickel silver, with raised glue and silver foil for the pattern on it (along with nailpolish for the coloured bits. The wire is either sterling silver or nickel silver (depending on which bit you're looking at) and then there's swarovski crystals and czech glass beads. Oh, and epoxy glue - I couldn't learn to solder in time :-(
