A couple of Tolkien inspired designs

This first one is now a tapestry in my house, it has a transcription beneath it which translates to "With God to the Stars" I actually drew the first version of it when I was around 9, this is just the final result some 20 years later, although I still might tweek it a bit more. Did say I'm never happy with any of my work
I can't remember what I was supposed to be doing when I doddled this, but I've always kept it so the other must have been pretty *bleah* LOL.
Anyway hope you like em. Cheers Kel x

so a lot of my doodles tend to resemble them. My mum actually did a tapestry once of the two Luthien and the Beren designs. She gave it to my eldest brother and sister-in-law as an engagement present. I'm hoping to get a photo of it as I'd love to show it to everyone. Was doing a tapestry myself at the same time of Melians' design, but one of my mums cats (she bred siamese back then) decided it made a great toilet So it ended in the bin. The cat made it into orbit I love the Idril design too btw.

I like both of them. The second one seems to have more of the Tolkien influence. The first one appears more Medieval-ish (?). But still, both look awesome!

The first one has changed a lot from what it originally was like, not surprising I guess and it ended up being inspired by what I thought elven art/textiles might be like. The second is just a doodle, I do heaps of them. As I've always loved the designs the Professor did, they always seem to end up along those lines *grin* They're a fun way to pass the time. Once again thanks for your comments. *hugs* Kel x

The 2nd I like because it puts me in mind of Faerie and Tolkien's early poems in the first few years after the Great War. But the 1st I like best. It is a very icon Abrahamic motif. Thanks for sharing! :)

...I was looking that up in a couple of books I have that cover historical aspects of symbolism. It was apparently popular with alchemists and became the symbol of medicine for the reasons you describe. :)

The second one looks like the design on the harper collins paperback edition of the Silmarillion.
