I wouldn't choose. [In reply to] Can't Post

They both move me immensely and suit the films perfectly.
I love them both.
Thanks for asking, though.Smile

But I voted for 'Song of the Lonely Mountain'. I don't know why. I don't really want to contribute to the "I See Fire" flack since there's plenty others who will do that for me. Wink However, I guess it depends on how you define 'favorite'. The two songs move me in different ways. My reaction to "Song of the Lonely Mountain" is: "Awesome! Put that one on repeat!" My reaction to "I See Fire" is to dissolve into a puddle of tears.

The good part about Middle-earth is that any and all tears it inspires seem to be really cathartic...

Song of the Lonely Mountain [In reply to] Can't Post

I like how it is reminiscent of the Glenn Yarbrough music for the animated film. I can't stand I See Fire, but I'm waiting to hear it in the context of the film before I pass a complete judgement.

I like both of them. [In reply to] Can't Post

Clearly I See Fire is more of a lament/prayer whereas Song of the Lonely Mountain is more cheerful and has more of a bounce in it. Smile

I think I prefer Song of the Lonely Mountain because of the positive effect it has, but I do like Ed's style when he sings I See Fire though I do know of some who are not keen on Ed Sheeran (I'm looking at you Daniel! Tongue) and would clearly chose the former song as their favourite.

I honestly don't mind - they are awesome songs after all! Wink

The Neil Finn song is decent, [In reply to] Can't Post

though it's probably my least favorite of the songs from Jackson's films. But the Ed Sheeran song just does not fit in with the films, so even though it's not a terrible song, it does not work for me.
