Pens are more durable for stabbing but pencils can get sharper points for digging into those hard to reach places. Colored pencils are basically useless as they break to easily. Markets bleed through but are more vibrant than crayons. Another problem with pens is I tend to stick them in my pocket and forget them and them destroy all the clothes in the laundry though I did learn that nail polish remover will get rid of most of the ink on the inside surface of the dryer. Maybe I'll just stick to a keyboard

I am supposed to be a word person after all. But I do it lightly when I'm not sure, just in case I have to overwrite. . .

I occasionally do that, but I do the cross clues, and sometimes their cross clues, etc. in my head to make sure the answer is right. Gets as mentally exhausting as playing a good game of chess. Still, when I get finished (except for that one pesky clue) it's a nice feeling of accomplishment. Plus any observers are impressed.

you can do to keep your brain sharp. My dad's still doing crosswords at 93. In ink - but he bought erasable pens

I sometimes go 'off-paper' with some pen scribblings to work some things out, but if something is too difficult to complete in pen, why bother? I must admit, however, that I complete many a puzzle on my tablet, which wasn't a voting option, but I identify it closely with 'pen.'

I'm non-commital when it comes to writing, so a pencil is my weapon of choice. But I really like it to show up dark and full... not the scratchy thin line many pencils have. #2 soft lead. Yeah.... one that I can use for sketching if I want :D

preferred writing implement is a pen (but it must work properly! can't stand having to scribble every few words) but drawing or maths require a pencil
