I somehow got interviewed by USA Today as a result of being a very minor part of this community. One of the questions they asked me cracked me up: "Are any women going to watch this movie?" The movie moguls were afraid LotR would only appeal to teenaged boys, apparently. They weren't counting on the Leggy-loo lovers and the old ladies like me (and many others on these boards) who have loved LotR for decades.

I am a male. Most Tolkien fans I know are males. I honestly don't think it's strictly a male or female fandom. There are plenty of fans of both genders!!!

Interesting to see women are overrepresented by quite a margin, if the poll is representative of the site at large, which is perfectly fine by me I should add. In most "genre fanbases" it feels like the guys tend to outnumber the girls by far, always nice to see a larger female presence.
