For that matter, why leave out Edhellond in Southern Gondor? Eregion (Hollin) was more properly a land in Eriador. Its chief city was Ost-in-Edhil.

Design-wise, it's Thranduil's Halls, but my favorite character ruled over the Grey Havens for the Second Age (Gil-galad) along with the rest of Lindon. So I'll go with the Havens.

my friends, who are retired, named their new house Grey Havens......
It does have water nearby, water that leads eventually into the Chesapeake Bay, and to the sea, to the sea.... I've always had a thing for Mirkwood.

Being a Great Lakes girl, I love open fresh water. I'm guessing the Grey Havens is salt water so I had to go for Rivendell. I'm too far away from all water where I live. That's what makes my trips over the Bay Bridge to the Eastern Shore so special.

and there's work to be done - real work mind you... and White Ships to be built! Rivendell? What to do? Sing a Song of Days of Yore! Afraid of the talan heights in Lorien.... Rope ladders, my foot! What about a pulley system??

Rivendell is so beautiful and relaxing seems like it would be a great place to live. The downside being that I'd be afraid of getting bored with all the relaxation, but the upside is that there are a lot of characters living there that I like Then again, Lothlorien is also beautiful and I'm rather fond of Galadriel. Then again, Thranduil's halls are also beautiful. The only downside would be that it's in Mirkwood with all those *shiver* spiders . Of course I'd also have Legolas and Thranduil there to protect me from the spiders, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

I'm going with Rivendell. It's just absolutely beautiful there. Love the waterfalls and rocky surroundings. Lothlorien is a close second though as I would love to wander the golden wood for hours on end.

Best library in Middle-earth, songs and stories nightly at the Hall of Fire, great food, soft beds. Only thing missing is a palantir connection but it's probably all Elf porn anyway.
