I'd have to say LOTR, but the Silmarillion would be second. When I first read LOTR, TTT was my favorite book. Now I think ROTK is. ROTK was always my favorite of the movies too.

That's tricky though, I love the ROTK book, but I also love the Children of Hurin and the Hobbit!! I love all of them, but probably out of that list, Unfinished Tales is my least favorite, but it is still amazing!

The Middle-earth books are amazing and Tolkien's legacy. Love 'em.

But I also have this silly liking for Farmer Giles of Ham. When the mood strikes, there's nothing funnier.

I've only read The Silmarillion once, but I thoroughly enjoyed it despite being pretty confused as to who was who and where was where. I would like to read it again some time when I can concentrate and take copious notes. LOTR not only lends itself to multiple readings, it gets better with each one.

Not to say that LOTR goes downhill after FOTR, but it does become less Faerie and more World of Men.

I liked the Hobbit book but LOTR I feel was just way better and plus it was like the first BIG book I read when I was young.
