Boston LP Events Can't Post

I thought I would make a general topic for the Boston LP group, so those from outside the Boston Common Line Party list here on TORn could read about these events, since they expand beyond Boston (frequently West to Worcester or North to Rockport). As some readers know, we had our first gathering in a couple years in September to celebrate Bilbo and Frodo's birthday and some good ideas came out of it. Two of those were to meet on a regular basis to read and watch Tolkien together.

Before we get going on the book group, I thought we should give folks a chance to see the LOTR films together. Like most translations, the books are so much richer, that it can be easier to watch the story first. So, if you have someone new you'd like to introduce into the fandom, now is your opportunity.

What do others think? I have limited space, but if the group is small, I'm willing to host the first viewing at my house- luckily my roommate is a fan too. I'm near Alewife Station in E. Arlington, so people would have the option of taking the subway, bus or car (I have space for 1-2 cars in the drive, as well as street parking).

Each Extended Edition disk on DVD is ~2 hours each, so if we watched one disk per visit, that's 6 events or we could have 3 longer events or even hold one major marathon. I know that folks have already expressed interest in doing a marathon in December though. I thought we could do potluck or delivery (Although there are restaurants 1-2 blocks away, if we want to go out).

I can probably host all the viewings, if the group stays small, but if you want to help plan, bring food, or host, just let me know.

Who is interested and on what schedule? It would have to be weekends, so Friday night through Sunday afternoon.

Being a "Steward of Harvard" is almost as good as being Steward of Gondor, but I'd still like to visit Minas Tirith.

Set a date and time [In reply to] Can't Post

We are all set: We'll be holding the marathon at my home in E. Arlington (PM for directions) on Saturday, December 29th, beginning at 10am. There's plenty of street parking (as soon as the snow melts a little) and anyone who wants to drive/T home should still be able.
